For one, you want to get out of the United Kingdom, so, you can't say that you want to get rid of our monarchy, and you want to be independent. YOu mean to tell me that, after centuries of oppression by the evil English, you want to oppress them by forcing them out of their monarchy, whilst you go about being an independent nation. Therefore, put up with our Monarchy, and speak from that angle, else whine about your Welsh independence elsewhere.

A flippant response. The thing about monarchists is that their answers are inconsistent. Either the monarch is symbolic or vitally important to government. Power rests with parliament or we need a monarch with reserve powers in case "democracy fails". The answer is straightforward you either accept we are equal or you don't. And monarchy is inconsistent with that value regardless of what caveats you impose on it.

This is what monarchy is, conservatism unblemished. People are dumb and can't be trusted so it rests on their "betters" to restrain from their own stupidity.

Obviously, because on some issues the people know absolutely everything they need to know, and should be wholly trusted to make the correct decisions. There needs to be some form of safeguard.

I live in a house that has been in the familyt for around 115 years, morage payed of over 75 years ago. When its passed onto me in a will, i get it as its property. Same applies with the royal family

No, I'm accusing you of being inconsistent, bashing the monarchy and saying how it was unjust while at the same time saying that we should just break up. On ideological grounds I want to remove the royal family, but on a practical basis I think we should just put a larger load of tax on them and cut all ceremonial powers from them; there only job then would be to go off to foreign countries as a diplomatic tool.

I do get to choose my nationality. That's my right. The law says I'm a British citizen, but that doesn't effect my right to a nationality.
