Lots of people.

Source, please. You've been making these assertions that no longer having a Queen will not significantly affect tourism in any way. Your arguments regarding the French palaces have no place here, either - the French monarchy are not only long gone, but also deposed in a dramatic and exciting historical event. It also makes no mention of parades and other events ranging from the Royal Wedding to the changing of the guard.

So please, dear Pesda, provide some source, or meaningful argument, to show that not having a monarch is not in any way going to affect our tourist industry, if only because we're now getting to the point where we're simply repeating our arguments at each other.

No, Netherlands stays. I don't care a fadoodle about what government I live in, just as long as it's not Socialism or Communism, and that I have the freedom of Speech. Plus, there are a lot of heirs to the throne, and honestly, imagine the Netherlands as having an abolished monarchy. Crazy.

For one, you want to get out of the United Kingdom, so, you can't say that you want to get rid of our monarchy, and you want to be independent. YOu mean to tell me that, after centuries of oppression by the evil English, you want to oppress them by forcing them out of their monarchy, whilst you go about being an independent nation. Therefore, put up with our Monarchy, and speak from that angle, else whine about your Welsh independence elsewhere.

No, you can have a monarchy if you want, just don't make me share it.

Why are you talking about Wales? It doesn't matter about what you call yourself. I call myself Scotch-Irish-American. But just because I live don't live in a constitutional Monarchy, I still think it matters. Like preserving Tutankhamen. Or recognizing Native American tribes.

A flippant response. The thing about monarchists is that their answers are inconsistent. Either the monarch is symbolic or vitally important to government. Power rests with parliament or we need a monarch with reserve powers in case "democracy fails". The answer is straightforward you either accept we are equal or you don't. And monarchy is inconsistent with that value regardless of what caveats you impose on it.

I'm of an understanding that large groupings of people, can on some issues, have a 'mob' mentality, and often cling to ideas that are both stupid and dtermental in the long-run. Essentially, a person is smart, but people are dumb. There needs to be some form of safe guard so foolish populism does not get out of hand.

This is what monarchy is, conservatism unblemished. People are dumb and can't be trusted so it rests on their "betters" to restrain from their own stupidity.

Obviously, because on some issues the people know absolutely everything they need to know, and should be wholly trusted to make the correct decisions. There needs to be some form of safeguard.
