One of them is apparently in charge of a helicopter or something.

That's a lot of power for one man.

It always comes down to the helicopters.

The royal family should be murdered.
This test is biased and has stupid questions, but anyways:
Old (from when my nation was founded):
Economic Right: 6.50
Social Libertarian:-3.67
New (11 December 2012):
Economic Right: 2.50
Social Libertarian: -5.23
Be aware that I am only so near to the centre of the economic axe because this test associates being right-wing with crony capitalism, trickle down, and letting business be held to lower standards than individuals under law.

Oh look, there's a poll there. Let's look at the results;

"Should the UK abolish its monarchy?
Yes - 41% - 2237
No - 59% - 3264"

So, even on an article about republicanism, with all the 'benefits', people still want the royal family. Hm...

Oh please you only want them for the gossip....

I am a devout follower of the Church of the Walken God. I urge you to get a copy of the Bible of the Church of the Walken God, which also includes a plea to atheists. Outside of here I do lead a rather unusual and colourful life. As a Spinster.

Hell no. There are just too many republics and new-fangled governments in the world. Royal families give a nation an air of continuity. They're like stable traditional social structures from antiquity to the present. I do not support abolishing royal families.

I find the royal family to be somewhat of a backbone for the English. Most everyone respects them, but some people just don't know what they really do. Then again, im only American so what do I know.

As an American, I don't really care. But I see a value in having a national non-political figurehead; someone that people can focus on and act as a rallying point in a crisis. Having no monarch, America has effectively made the President a king, and given a mere politician far too much power and prestige. In America it would be nearly unthinkable, for most people, for the President to, say, go to prison (some of our Presidents, IMHO, should have). But I think the British royal family could also use to be cut down to size a bit, if only to save taxpayers' money. Put 'em on bicycles like the Danish royals. (or is it the Dutch?)

The danish royals are pretty chill, once again serving as a source of nationalism. And I have to agree with you about how the English monarch unites the country.
