The US has observed a moment of silence for the 26 victims of the Connecticut school shooting, as a gun lobby group called for armed security at schools.

Bells in Newtown tolled 26 times, one week after 20 children and six adults died at Sandy Hook Elementary School.

In Washington, the National Rifle Association called for "good guys" to be armed for "absolute protection".

Good idea? Or bad?

I say bad...not good to have more guns in schools. What good would it do?

Good guys you mean like school police officers ?
I thought most schools already had these.

Agreed. And advocating for teachers and students to carry weapons into school is not even unreasonable. It's irresponsible.

Agreed, arming teachers seems like a really bad call. If for no other reason than we'd probably see an increase in teachers killing their students (particularly in middle school and high school classrooms).

I am not joking.

High school for sure.

I didn't say "nothing." I didn't trivialize the importance of things like guns. But they are killing machines. Thats what they're designed to do. Thats the deterrence factor the NRA is always talking about, isn't it?
and need to be banned.

Please show me where I have advocated banning guns. Its probably around the area where I said that I thought killing was always wrong.

Target shooting, hunting(Which is still killing, I'll give you), and whenever you need to send any object down a distance at a very high velocity.

What's the point of target shooting if you don't intend on killing something?

Hey guys I have a crazy idea! Let's make gun laws tighter instead of putting trained killers in every algebra class. 95% of all school shooting occur in the united states. The reason is that all the gun toting loonies run the us.

Just the slightest question here:
Have you ever shot or even handled a gun? At all?
