Prior to this year, the only shootings that come to mind are Virginia Tech and Columbine.

To my memory, friend. I can't recall the names of the massacres or their fatalities, I simply recall reading about them. One with a sword, one with a hatchet and one with a machete. Again, to my memory the highest death count was a rather staggering 34.

But allow me to respond nonetheless, this has little to do with guns because as of today, somewhere near 160+ million Americans were in possession of a weapon and did not fire it towards another person. 160 million people today had a gun and did not kill anyone, of those I'd wager less than 1% had ever fired their weapon at another person.

1 person today, had a mental breakdown and shot a weapon which he should not legally have, at defenceless children. A few more people in the history of the United States have done the same, the rates of gun ownership have remained high in the US from the very beginning, while the rates of these shootings mostly correlates with the rise in mental health disorders.

Prove it, source it, prove it, source it. Making baseless claims is bad.

Sourcing for me is hard for me especially on my mobile, I don't have the controls I need to adequately source all of my points in-text. I can offer you at best my word that it's there if you look it up.

Nonetheless, my argument is logical not numerical. Wikipedia stated 50% of American households owned guns, I did a little extrapolation and made the assumption that then that near at least 160 million Americans are gun-owners. Those 50% of Americans did not shoot anyone today, if they had, then we'd probably have heard about it, since it would be a substantial chunk of the population dead. If I recall, there are less than 48,000 gun-related murders in a year, by extrapolation it would be hard to imagine even 1% of those 160 million (1.6 million) had ever killed a man with his weapon.

"Don't try to prevent this in the future! Show some respect to the victims!" Why does this sound like a good argument to anyone?

It's not like we're shouting in the faces of the parents of the murdered children. This is a political site where we debate how we vote and what we think are good political solutions. We should be stoking political will to try and get this to change, not uselessly wringing our hands and offering up prayers and condolences to no one who can hear it.

I don't know man, people are going crazy and shooting for no apparent reason. These kids were just enjoying their school life, enjoying talking to their friends, when suddenly, BAM. Gunshots were heard and the next thing you know, there's a kid dead kid on the floor. The shooter had a mom that's a teacher, and for some weird, abnormal reason, he shot her dead with out hesitation. My country needs to have more security... I swear, next thing I notice is that I'll be in my high school's cafeteria, bleeding out and waiting for death.
