Never a bad idea to have an official officer come through and make friendly with the kids. It shows them that they can bring problems to them, and trust the officers to help them in cases of abuse or distress.
It wasn't like he had an office in the school, he literally came in, made some sort of 'be good kids/don't talk to strangers/cars are dangerous k' speech a couple of times a month and was off.
Was always the same guy though, and he was a really nice bloke.
