Interestingly enough, several of those "sins" are not disdained by the Democratic party and embraced by the Republican party.

Well, FDR did order the Manhattan Project up, and the Germans didn't end up making nukes, and Truman continued the program- and both were Democrats...but without it we'd be even dirtier and nastier than before in power production!*
