First let me state I think abortion is the worst and most barbaric form of birth control... but when conservative legislatures vote to defund the only affordable source for contracetives for many women just because Planned Parenthood also helps women obtain abortions... what makes you think there will be fewer unwanted pregnancies ending in abortion? Only difference is the abortions will be preformed in unsanitary conditions by unqualified practicioners...

I'd like to see these conservatives put their money where their mouth is on abortion... they want that million kids born to women who can't, won't or shouldn't be raising kids... but I've never heard one say they'd be willing to take full financial responsibility for a single one of these kids if the mother agrees not to have the abortion... because they don't really care about the life of the child... it's a control thing...

And the best part is they don't want $500 their tax dollars going to fund a single abortion... but think nothing of the proported $10,000 per year coming out of their tax dollars to pay for keeping little unwanted, neglected and abused Johnny socio-path in prison for 15 to life...

Would you prefer that we pretend that both Parties endorsed segregation until a few years ago?

Listen, I'm not going to go pick on the Republicans for having Strom Thurmond and Trent Lott in their Senate lineup until a few years ago unless someone wants to use Robert Byrd's presence in the Senate Democratic caucus as "proof" of the absurd claim that the Democratic Party is still somehow a political vehicle for white supremacist policy. Sadly, there's always some smartass willing to go nuclear on that point and make that kind of absurd claim, and when that happens I usually try to remind them that their side isn't innocent on that point, either.

At the same time, I'm not going to pretend that there was never a time when the Democratic Party opposed voter rights and anti-lynching bills; that said, it's been forty years since a prominent Democrat (George Corley Wallace, Jr.) opposed civil rights. So is it reasonable to still try and tar the Democratic Party with that brush?

Ford couldn't get the Democratic congress to authorize military action.

On another note. I see votes for the Jim Crow laws, so how come no one's talking about them?

Gross over simplification of the War.

The American people were done. There was no support for the war so Ford couldn't have done much.

You've used that source before. You started a whole thread on it, giving substantial answer to NOT ONE of the criticism raised of it. And when this was posted:

The Blaze links to this page on 247wallst.com where you will see a graph of 2011 GDP growth by state: the Blaze's primary source.

The last line of the opening paragraph (on the Blaze) links to "this map" ... a pdf showing states governments by party.

I took the liberty of combining them into one graph (the rendering is terrible sorry):

Image

Why did I bother? Well, just to show that cherry-picking data can get you any result you want.

Notice how it even gets worse as the intensity of liberalness increases. California has always been notorious for its liberal policies and large hippie population and it is dead last. This should suprise nobody. Republicans, for all their faults an any area outside the economy, know how the economy works and what is best for it. Why is that? Because the Republican base is made up of businessmen and ecnonomists, while the democrats are made up of College professors and Lawyers (ie people who make up thier own rules and pretend they work.) And before anyone mentions Clinton, note that he had a Republican congress throughout his whole term. They created the surplus, not him.

The Republican base is made up of old folks who stopped paying attention decades ago and vote like zombies, religious nuts who believe in Evil and vote for the lesser of evils, some businesspeople, the filthy stinking rich who don't even need to work any more and generally don't, and parasitic Tea Party types who hold the party hostage and probably dream of taking its place after they've killed it. And sadly for them, some middle class who just want government slow and steady ... conservatives bless them, with their ship taken over by fools.

As to "ecnonomists" ... cop an eyeful of what hundreds of economists said about George W. Bush's tax plan in 2003: pdf of what they published in the New York Times as an advertisement

... you fell completely silent.

Well, every time you post that source I'm going to quote that post from Halloween Karaoke. Every single time until you either answer it, or stop using the link as a "source".

It didn't change the rate of abortions much, actually. Just made them legal in those states where they weren't legal already.

Also, the Supreme Court isn't a part of the Democratic Party, as you should know if you've been to school. Have you been to school?
