"Stolit" is the all-cars, all-tracks cheat code for the Playstation 1 version of Need for Speed III: Hot Pursuit. I have been using that internet name, where possible, since that game came out some time in the mid-1990s. When registering for Nationstates, and being the remarkably innovative gentleman that I am, I added the word "land" to "Stolit." Thus, Stolitland.

Well mine's pretty obvious. I wanted a name that incorporated Jimmy Buffett and Stephen Colbert but I could not think of a combination that was fitting (Colbuffett? No. Jimbert? No. etc.) But then I though of some island nations such as Trinidad and Tobago and Antigua and Barbuda. I thought, if they could do it, why couldn't I? Hence the name, Buffett and Colbert. It's not the most creative name, but it works. :p

Lead singer of Nine Inch Nails.

Mine was from snorting large amounts of crack.

Okay, not really. It's a name of a place from a novel I was writing, until I realized it was utter crap and went onto writing what I'm better at.

EDIT: Well, actually, Trent is the lead EVERYTHING of Nine Inch Nails, but it's simpler to say singer.

I'm not new to NationStates, but I guess I'm a little new to this new forum for NationStates; (I left the old one a while back and the new one was here when I came back, not sure when it changed) I basically took my surname and added "ia" to it so as to make it sound more country-ish...

When I was a kid I used to write stories about odd creatures who lived on a planet called Sirocco which I had plucked from a dictionary. So... when I was shown NationStates, the name choice seemed obvious to me.

Oh, not this shit again.

The content of a poster's character is in how they relate to others.

Names, avatars, signatures ... they're fodder for prejudice.

*deep breath*

I hate Bugs Bunny. He's funny, but the egotism of BB is exactly what I hate about myself. That idea that being smart is the purpose of life, not one of the tools of life.

And what I most loved about myself, being young and "the underdog" in a world made by and for old people, is decreasingly true. I'm getting old, just like Bugs. I'm a dinosaur!

So that's the origin of my name. Despair.

Anybody who sheds a tear for me will get a punch in the face. Judge me by how I treat you, please.

:( It's a pretty word ... but the meaning isn't very cool.

It's kinda evocative of Global Warming. Ten years from now, that will make it less cool than Hitler and the Nazis!

My name was born out of having only five minutes to make a name. I don't think the name turned out so well but I've used it for so long now I don't feel like changing.

I'm not exactly new (having spent about a year on Jolt, give or take). However, my name was designed specifically for a Star Trek RP. I chose Romulans because they're among the most bad ass, and underused, of the major Star Trek factions. "Romulan Republic" also works well in that I feel it reflects both my interest in sci-fi and my political values. It eventually became my main nation for posting in General, and ultimately my only nation after I lost the first one due to a combination of inactivity while moving and password problems.
"Our progress in degeneracy appears to me to be pretty rapid. As a nation, we began by declaring that "all men are created equal." We now practically read it "all men are created equal, except negroes" When the Know-Nothings get control, it will read "all men are created equal, except negroes, and foreigners, and Catholics." When it comes to this I should prefer emigrating to some country where they make no pretence of loving liberty -- to Russia, for instance, where despotism can be taken pure, and without the base alloy of hypocracy." - President Abraham Lincoln.
