Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands are not states. Even if they were, why in the hell are they in the same group as New York And New Jersey -- MID ATLANTIC STATES?

I was going to make a big rant-post about the groupings and how they make no sense, until I looked at the relevant wikipedia article. Apparently, the OP is using one of the federal groupings.

Still doesn't really make sense, but I have to give the OP credit for using a relatively obscure federal grouping.

Linky.

Sounds like someone has never taken a geography class. Otherwise, you'd be able to tell from a world map.

India: 1,269,000 sq miles

US: 3,794,000 sq miles

Now, I may be wrong here, but according to the very foundations of arithmetic, 3.794 million is considerably bigger than 1.269 million.

I meant in population.

But we're getting way off topic, so I'd like to just drop it really.

Blame the federal classification system. We're talking about the same system that groups Puerto Rico and the Virgin Islands with New York and New Jersey. Its not exactly the most intelligent system thought of.

I have no idea when this sytems was set up but decades ago most Puerto Ricans moved to NYC. So maybe that influenced the decison to include PR. in with NY. NYC still has a high Puerto Rican population but not has high has decades ago. Today, many migrate to CT. PA, and many more to Central Florida.
