ask moderation about reading serious moderation candidates TGs without telling them about it until afterwards and/or apparently refusing to confirm/deny the exact timeline of TG reading ~~~ i hope you never sent any of the recent mods or the ones that got really close anything personal!

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

Then they'll just have to vote for it.

Also the clan system still exists. My Greatx3 grand-daddy was Lord Norman Magnus Macleod of Macleod. Lord of the isle of Skye. sadly im not lord of skye :(

It might still exist, but it was heavily repressed by the British government after the Jacobite rebellion in Scotland, especially in the Highlands. I think the English even banned wearing kilts at one point, though probably not playing the bagpipes or eating haggis.

Well currently half the british army wear kilts as military dress. remember the british government is scotland also. we werent like a colony. scotland had a great time then to. ever heard of the steam engine, telephone, tv, penacillin, bicycle, etc. etc.

The whole topic was kinda stupid to begin with anyway. I think most of what needed to be said has been said, the rest is just arguing for the sake of arguing.

remember the british government is scotland also.

But devolution is only a recent thing. Before that, the government in London basically did everything with not too much local say in their policies.

we werent like a colony.

Again, devolution in Wales and Scotland is a recent thing.

scotland had a great time then to. ever heard of the steam engine, telephone, tv, penacillin, bicycle, etc. etc.

Of course, but those don't really change the historical fact that Scotland and Wales were quite mistreated by England in the past. Remember back when children caught speaking Welsh in school would be beaten?

So when you say that the UK has been culturally isolated for centuries, you are forgetting your ancestors?

Like, say, William I (French), William II (French), Henry I (Belgian wife, Belgian mother), Stephen (French, French wife), Henry II (French, with a French wife), Richard I (Spanish wife, French mother), John (French mother, French wife), Henry III (French wife, French mother), Edward I (Spanish and French wives, French mother), Edward II (Spanish mother, French wife), Edward III (French mother, Belgian wife), Richard II (Bohemian and French wives), Henry IV (married a French woman and a Spaniard), Henry V (French wife), Henry VI (French mother, French wife), Henry VIII (married a Spaniard and a German), Mary (married a Spaniard, Spanish mother), James I (married a Dane), Charles I (Danish mother, French wife), Charles II (French mother, Portuguese wife), James II (French mother, married an Italian), William III (Dutch), Anne (married a Dane), George I (son of two people that would today be described as Germans, married another German), George II (married another German), George III (German mother, married a German), George IV (German mother, married a German), William IV (German mother, married a German), Victoria (German mother, married a German), Edward VII (German father, married a Dane), George V (Danish mother, married a German), Edward VIII (German mother, married an American), and George VI (Danish mother).

(NB: I have mostly assigned nationalities based on the modern-day countries covering the cities of their birth, except where this would cause confusion).

So, that's the vast majority of every king/queen of England/Britain since 1066 with either a foreign spouse, a foreign birth place or a foreign parent. In fact, Elizabeth II is the first in several centuries not to have either herself or a parent born outside the UK.

Read my note. William the Conqueror was born in Château de Falaise, in modern-day France. I had to pick between listing loads of tiny, long vanished states that nobody would have heard of or just using the modern names, and I went for the latter.

If you get lucky and hit somebody reasonably notable with a fairly well documented family tree, you can go way back. I've got a family tree drawn up somewhere that goes back to Rome.

It's not like there has ever been a shortage of English nobles. The point here is that the UK has never been isolated to anything like the degree that you are claiming. Ever. At all.

If you read Cracked, you'd know the British have best teeth, and Poland worst.

And the best bagpipe use is AC/DC's "It's a Long Way to the Top (If You Wanna Rock 'n Roll)"!

"Terrible teeth" is kind of an American stereotype of the English, "emotionally repressed" is the whole "stiff upper lip" and "lie back and think of England" deal that may be outdated nowadays (thank fuck if it is), and the unwarranted superiority is the whole "with Europe but not of it" isolationism that tends to unfortunately come up too much in discussions about the EU.
