I don't care about Christmas trees, I leave that to the rest of my family.

Don't be deceived when our Revolution has finally been stamped out and they tell you things are better now even if there's no poverty to see, because the poverty's been hidden...even if you ever got more wages and could afford to buy more of these new and useless goods which these new industries foist on you, and even if it seems to you that "you never had so much" - that is only the slogan of those who have much more than you.

Uh... You do realize that either way, something in nature will be destroyed to make the materials for the fake trees, right?

Except a synthetic tree will most likely be made from the waste product created from the production of oil and will last for many, many years.

Sustainable forestry exists for a reason, you know, so you can have your Christmas tree without needing to worry about "destroyed nature".

Also, it's not actually bad for the environment. So get a real tree, all of you. :p

That's the thing... it is not a custom here to put up real trees for Christmas. But the most common are pine trees.

Aren't the trees deliberately grown specifically to be used as Christmas trees?

Fake tree usually...

It's so much fun...!

The fun is having a bunch of us have immense difficulty assembling the thing, since it takes a good hour or so to put all the pieces together...

For the longest of time, I've been the official, "Ring Boy" putting the little ring of fake green around the base to hide it's metal skeleton, and tormented by silly songs and an elf hat I have to endure...

Screw the tree, I hate it now...
And so it was, that I had never changed.

Yes, they are. In Britain, at least.

Real tree. We put it up around half way through December. We make a big deal out of decorating it. Everyone in the family helps and we listen to Christmas music while we do it. It's probably my third favourite part of Christmas, after Christmas Eve and Christmas day.
Removing the text from people's sigs doesn't make it any less true. I stand with Yalta.

Pines are not a native species, but they have been introduced, as well as many others.

I don't like pines too much either... our neighbors have one. Makes a mess out of our terrace.

Jim doesn't really do christmas, he puts up with it for me because I LOOVE it. SO, every year he helps me take our fake tree and all the christmas bins out of the closet and if I am very lucky and nice he will help me put it up but I have to fluff out the branches and decorate it, sometimes he will help decorate the parts that are hard for me to reach though. We do a fake one because I was afraid of fire when I had my first apartment and first chance to have my own tree. It caught on with my parents too because my dad is often allergic to the real trees.
