If it was up to me I wouldn't even bother with a statute of limitations over a next of kin's right regarding a body. I'd just say let them either sue for psychological trauma or financial loss (if they were using the bones to prop up a shelf for example).

However, when you ignore someone else's religious views even when they differ from your own, you should always have a good justification, or it's normal to feel a pang of guilt.

You realize that the two are not even a little bit related, right? One is about two people getting married, and the other is about people using bodies as sex objects. One involves two people, one involves a person and an object.

Well, grave robbery should remain a crime and so should mishandling of remains, though I don't think fucking a skeleton should be any more of a crime than dressing them up in a silly costume or putting them in front of your storefront with a "we buy gold" sign (people still do that, right?)

In theory, I think if someone specifically willed their corpse to become the property of another than necrophilia should be allowed, though there still needs to be a regulatory procedure, corpses are still a public health hazard and such.

So there are legitimate reasons why it wouldn't be legal to fuck a corpse, I just don't think it should be explicitly or particularly illegal to.
