How Long Will Communism Last in China?

Postby Ranmaverse » Tue Nov 20, 2012 6:32 am

Most Communist states don't seem to last very long, at least not as long as constitutional monarchies and republics.

I have not done any research for this, but just from my common knowledge, China seems pretty stable. However, one fell swoop and, like many other communist states, China's government could be in trouble.

How long will Communism last in China? And while were at it, how long will Communism last in other countries, like Cuba, and North Korea?

China is not communist, it's hardly even socialist now...it's a one-party capitalist machine, IMHO.

Cuba: when the Castros die out, I'd think the Embargo may finally be lifted eventually leading to gradual democratization.

North Korea: God only knows.

Probably for as long as it works for them. China has always been a slow changing country. Plus, they're increasing in rates of human development, wealth and affluence, so they probably won't change too dramatically in the future. As they become richer, however, I imagine that they will increase in civil rights, with more interest groups available to fight for them.

China: Maybe 25 years
Cuba: 15 years or so
North Korea: Either till it gets blown to smithereens or at least another 100 years.

China? Kinda hard to say, but I'd say the Communist system will begin to develop severe cracks in 2015. China's economy is gonna tank somewhere around 2020-2022, and the 'Communist' Party will follow, bowing out around 2023-2024.

Chinese communism died when they opened their borders to foreign capital and investment.

Cuba may be holding on to the last stings but it doesn't have long.

North Korea, my guess is as good as any. However, I doubt that it is truly communist. It's more of an isolated authoritarian dictatorship.

1: China is Capitalist.

2: Like the Soviet Union, it wasn't Communist, it was Socialist.

Albeit it pretends to be Socialist and remains a largely Pro-Socialist nation, and probably will foolishly go back to Socialism again, but right now, it's a Capitalist nation.

Cuba is also a Socialist, not Communist, nation and it's Socialist regime won't last much longer, eventually, it will abandon the failed ideology.

North Korea, again, isn't Communist, and it never was, it was Socialist, but once it broke off it's ties to China & the USSR, it become a pure militaristic dictatorship.

Let's see... Wait, Communism AND Socialism ceased to exist in China, Vietnam, North Korea (Chosun), Cuba and Laos. Your living proof of that: right here.

Thus... Don't think your question suits the case...

China is not communist, in any sense of the word.

I'm not sure any country has ever "been" communist. Many have called themselves communist, and some have gotten close. Problem is "communist" and "state" are kind of mutually exclusive terms.

The first congress of the Confederation of Anarchists Groups, under the name of Nabat ("The Alarm Drum"), issued five main points: suspension of all political parties, rejection of all dictatorships (mainly those organizing over people), negation of any State concept, rejection of any "transitory period" or "proletarian dictatorship", and advocated the self-management of all workers through free workers' councils (soviets).[5] These were in clear contrast to Bolshevik views.

"Communism" will last in China as long as the majority of the people are complacently uneducated.

Funny how some people assume socialism always fails in a vacuum, as if the successes of a tiny island nation wholly under siege for half a century by a world superpower a couple hundred miles away "failed" all on it's own, by some process of nature...
