They contribute nothing to society, chose to be apathetic towards things that actually matter, and only care about chasing their next hit. Addicts in general are an annoyance to me. I support legalization of drugs, in part because chasing and jailing these people is a waste of police time, prison space and government money.

(I'd like to highlight here the difference between a drug user and a stoner; a drug user has his use in control, and doesn't allow it to compromise who he is or his contribution to society. He indulges responsibly, and on occasion. A stoner only cares about drugs, sex and debauchery and idiocity in general, and is essentially a useless person, much like an alcoholic compared to a person who has a beer now and then)

Speaking as a stoner, I can say that every single person in my circle of stoner friends stays home on Black Friday. We're far too lazy, apathetic, and appreciative of sleeping in to be standing out in the cold on Black Friday just to fight through a crowd in order to get a discount on a big screen TV.

Speaking as a stoner, I can say that every single person in my circle of stoner friends stays home on Black Friday. We're far too lazy, apathetic, and appreciative of sleeping in to be standing out in the cold on Black Friday just to fight through a crowd in order to get a discount on a big screen TV.

Plus even with the discounts it still costs money to go shopping. In my experience stoners generally don't have a lot of money for recreational shopping -- unless they are shopping for stuff to smoke and/or drink, but that stuff doesn't go on sale for Black Friday.

I worked there for a little over a year. We had to sit through a series of videos as part of our training. One of the videos was about 20 minutes long and devoted to how much Unions suck.

Surprised people didn't start a union after that out of spite.

It really crossed my mind but at the time I had to worry about keeping the job. It was a good day when I quit.

Abslolutely, as I read in the US's union magazine, Labor notes,* people are losing their homes because WalMart and Target have been offering part-time work at low wages. And of course, part-time work is a deliberate tactic to make it difficult for workers to organise/unionise.

Personally, I think Black Friday would be great if it was an "online" holiday solely. You know, Sears slashing their prices online and not in store, Target.com halving TV price tags, the like.
