Actually as crucial America's role in WWII was, it was really the Soviets if anyone who won that war. They in truth fought a great deal of Nazi Germany all on their lonesome, lost the most men, got to Berlin first, had possession of Hitler's remains until 1970 when they burned it , and swept up much of the territory up for grabs after the war (Poland, etc)

Funded some of the worst terrorists in history, oversaw the most destructive privatization and destruction of vital services in American history(esp. mental health facilities,) engaged in round the clock provocation in the attempt to start a conflict to suit his political aims, supported the most disgusting dictatorial regimes in world history, started the trend of ridiculous political polarization, and cemented the relationship between the US and Israel as one of Master(Israel) and Client State(US.) Many, many more ridiculous failures and stupid moves, as well as downright evil motivations on his part. Terrible all around.

He was completely in the Union's pockets, he started the policy of sending US troops into combat without the formality of a declaration of war, he did nothing to curb the excesses of McCarthy and the HUAC, and headed one of the most corrupt administrations since Grant. All in all, a deserving candidate for this award.

Iran-Contra was bad. Invading Guatemala and Panama were bad. Giving aid the Afghans to fight the Soviets was bad (as this would haunt us later).

Reagan's foreign policy and the drug war were horrible.

On the economy, he was alright.
