And Cuba is still stuck in the 50s and is one of the poorest nations on the western hemisphere.

YOU? What the hell were the US even doing interfering in another state's politics? And don't claim it was out of purely good desire to free the Chilean people. The complete monster who was installed instead pretty much invalidates that claim.

Cold War, Soviet Union did that so calm your tits down. And it was, Chile was facing massive economic troubles and some one like Allende was the opposite of the solution.

So... Pinochet was genocidal, but at least he fixed the economy? Wasn't Hitler rather similar to Pinochet in that respect?

So? I like the Soviet Union even less. And economic troubles are now sufficient justification for a brutal coup and installing a ruthless tyrant?

Well he set in motion many of the plans to get Osama Bin Laden, War in Iraq was bad, i didn't agree with that, but I was with him on Afghanistan. Socially not a fan, foreign policy i agreed with mostly, he didn't take shit from anyone.

Just to throw in my two cents, I can't say I particularly like either Allende or Pinochet, but Pinochet was a genocidal asshole so I'd vote Allende as the lesser or two evils.

A ruthless tyrant? I have seen/heard worse. None of the Soviets were good neither was Pol Pot. Compared to them, Pinochet was a butterfly.
