The Egyptian president has just threatened with military support to Palestine in a conference in Cairo.

Military support need not be an outright declaration of war, but I doubt Bibi will look at something in such a light. Regardless, it's becoming quite hot in Israel, and it very well might boil over to something massive.

signature edit: confirmation has been received. they will explicitly do it before and without asking. they can look at TGs basically whenever they want so please keep this in mind when nominating people for moderator or TGing good posters/anyone!

Remember, Israel has nuclear weapons. Goodbye cruel world...

Yes, we're all aware they have nuclear weapons.
But they wouldn't use them because it would also destroy their own country as well as destroying the enemy.

Let me see if the article on dagbladet has it.

- Kairo vil ikke overlate Gaza til seg selv. Egypt idag er ikke det samme som Egypt var i går, og dagens arabere er heller ikke gårsdagens arabere, sier Morsi ifølge Reuters.

Poor translation -

Cairo will not let Gaza stand on it's own. Egypt today is not the same as Egypt was yesterday, and today's Arabs are not like yesterday's Arabs', says Morsi according to Reuters.

There is more too it than that, whereas there have been question of rockets launched from Sinai which is part of Egypt, but has a large terror network that's even at odds with the government itself there.

It's debatable what's meant with military despite some senior military cabinet having assembled on said meeting, most likely Morsi will attempt to make the Muslim brotherhood the regional power, but that's probably not going to be done militarily.

How about where you live? Gaza rockets generally only hit the top floor and generally only releases damage on said top floors. If you're in an apartment complex that's not the top floor, even better if it has taller or merely surronding structures, coupled with the minimal chance of a rocket hitting you out of millions other targets, and you're relatively safe.

I'd be pretty scared shitless myself, but don't fool yourself thinking you got a bullseye on your back.

At least that zones it out a bit for you, as while the Gaza rockets are unaccurate, they tend to be zoned in towards Tel Aviv and Jerusalem.

Dubious right now as they are probably targeting the symbolic. Which is why they have gone to the effort of hitting Tel Aviv.

We'll see. Over 90% of the missiles are still hitting small and medium southern towns.

Well, I pray it will go well for you, it sounds like a horrible situation to be in, whatever the odds. Just stay safe, most likely there will be some peace arrangement brokered in Cairo soon enough.

I hope so. Worst case scenario is that we'll end up going in for a ground assault, which wouldn't end well for anyone.

This was a deliberate Israeli provocation, a casus belli.

To blame the Palestinians is dishonest and cynical.

It could happen, but a senior Israeli head said he is confident for peace talks to assume soon. It really depends now on how much the pride of Hamas has been wounded, because if they won't agree to come to the table or reasonable terms, then Israel will not have much of a choice.

Right. It is totally not their fault they accidently fired those rockets at Tel Aviv and Jerusalem. They thought it was the 'on' button for the espresso machine.

Turns out the missile that hit Jerusalem was home-made. It has a range of 75 kilometers. That's a huge chunk of the country.

Yeah, and what exactly do you expect will happen if they openly throw all their cards to the table and declare a war of reconquest?

They will fire off the few rockets that have not been destroyed already, killing perhaps a few dozen people. Then Israel will be forced to institute a land occupation of the entire Gaza strip, and I doubt they will let it go should it happen again. Most likely inflicting over 1000 casualties like the last time around, and with a very real threat of the end of Palestine as a concept for a state.

It's funny how several people here keep condemning Israel for defending its own people against indiscriminate rocket attacks on civilian targets by Egyptian and Jordanian militants. A large portion of you live on the other side of the world, and right now Israelis are terrified.. Yet you put the blame on Israelis and not the terrorists.

Read this article, according to it most Israelis think that occupation of Gaza is the only possible way to achieve peace. I agree with them. IDF should march into Gaza and show them who's the boss. Like the guy in the article says, “We must, we must. We have to do like we did during Operation Cast Lead but this time stronger.”

Extremely dubious that it will happen. With Morsi on the pitch it is a different world, and while preparing for a hard hitting conflict against Iran, which Morsi as well dislikes. It is extremely dubious that Bibi would open up two sets of hostile fronts prior to such and a circus of bad press before such a campaign.

I doubt either the invasion or annexation of Palestine will come any time soon, at least not with Iran being the nation they are.
