The US is fine. They are in growth. So is most of the west. The recession is largely over.

Only in your dreams. The Depression is coming soon. And with an empty suit in the White House, God help us. Not that the Tea Party is any better. Both radical wings (Tea Party and the far left Occupy/Obama/Warren wing of the Dems) are part of the problem, not the solution. Last time, despite rhetoric to the contrary from both sides, neither was willing to seriously haggle. Now they will deal or we are doomed. Simple as that.

Obama and the democrats are not in the radical wingl. OWS is barely. Obama's a right-winger.

Greece will yet drag you down. And the growth is temporary and frankly anemic. Wait and see.

I don't think you understand economics at all.
Explain how greece will drag down europe, and how you can make the claim that the growth is temporary, despite the fact that the recession is the abberation in statistical terms, not the growth.
The bubble burst. It can't burst twice. (at least til we blow it up again, and that'll take about 50 years.)

Do you think universal healthcare is a communist idea? Because the conservative party in the UK, and indeed, MOST countries conservative parties, are pro-universal healthcare.
Obama is definately right wing.

Do you actually think that Greece will avoid future recurrences? It lacks the political will to make serious changes, and surely you know what that means. More insolvency in the future...near future, judging from their present weakness.

Also, the housing market has been artificially propped up yet again and again.....that cannot sustain itself forever. It has to be allowed to reach the bottom, and it has yet to do so.

Then greece will fail. It won't effect the rest of europe too badly, they were never a keystone state.

You're kidding, right? Certainly not right-wing in the American political mainstream, which is what counts in U.S. political terms. Maybe where state monopolies are accepted as a matter of course, but not here. I speak by the standards of American political discourse. Europe is irrelevant to that context.

Yeah, right. Hardly. He's in the left-wing of the Democratic Party. Center-right is Mitt Romney. The American political mainstream is very different.

Look, we are talking past each other. It's clear that neither of us will convince the other. I give up on stating my case. Good night, sir.

Mitt Romney is Center right? Hardly, Mitt Romney is anything he needs to be. Sort of like Cult of Personality, but since he doesn't really have much of a personality either he's unworthy of a theme tune.

And your case involves non-sequiturs and re-hashed hysterical arguments that didn't work for the election, and won't work now. The fact of the matter is the ideology of the GOP has shifted to the extreme right by currying to the lowest common denominator with fools like Cantor and Bachmann still in place, whos poisonous vile rhetoric pretty much damns anybody who doesn't fall right into line with their ideology as "extremist" left, even when they're closer to center or center-right than anything else.

It is that serious.

I'm not going to presume when it will happen, but this will happen. The resurgence of derivatives, the fact that banks are continuing to keep huge reserves of cash, the extremely low labor participation rate, continued trade and budget deficit, decline in the rating of US Treasuries, the garbage assets that have filled the Federal Reserve's balance sheet, the rapid increase in the monetary base, and more, all seem to indicate that the United States is on the way down. I truly think that it's not even a matter of trying to get the act together; there is just no way to get the car out of the ditch that has been dug. Saying that it's 'over' is just blind optimism.

Well the Republican base is most likely to be armed, most likely to shoot and take food from the democrat base, and most likely to not change their votes just because they had to shoot a few democrats.

If the federal government survives the ranks of democrat voters have been culled.
If the federal government falls then the Republicans can enjoy rule by state governments.

Really win win.

:( Indeed. We will turn our weapons on each other first.

Ahh but the State will practice the same thing so the Republicans will enjoy city governments.

Pretty much. It is a little troubling though because many of those Republicans are ridiculously well armed.
