Sure, as long as they:
1: purchase all federal land within their borders,
2: pay the cost of relocating anyone who doesn't wish to give up being a citizen of the US,
3: pay the cost of relocating all military equipment that was within their state.

I care about the people of the Confederacy. I think most secessionists are misguided, not evil, and I don't wish death upon them.

Hell, if they secede and it actually works out for them and they are successful and happy, then great! I wish them the best. I don't think they are good people to share a country with, but I have no issue with them making a go of it on their own.

I don't hate them either but I honestly believe that no one should need to stop you from doing something stupid like your a child. If one is to ever grow they must see that every action has a consequence wither it be go or bad.

Ah, there now. We've come up with an analogous bit of foolishness.
Let's understand each other. I sang the first hymn when the stars were born. And, long ago, I announced to a young woman, Mary, who it was she was expecting. On the other hand, I've turned rivers into blood, kings into cripples, cities into salt. So, I don't think that I have to explain myself to you.

I suppose we have. And you don't help that child pack so he or she can leave the family. You wait out the anger in the knowledge that someday they will grow up.

Not if the child is 44 (I actually have a real example of this). Sometimes you have to actually encourage them to pack their shit. But, I definitely am not going to let them just declare their bedroom to be sovereign from the rest of the house. If he wants to leave, he can take his things, put them on his back, and get to humping out.

I must say I do see the Secessionist movement exactly in those terms. The oldest parent IS the Authority, and absolute obedience is not-negotiable. That the child may be 44 does not alter the equation.

No, make the child 44 and it is a perfect analogy. This fully adult child wants us to let it declare his bedroom sovereign. And we're simply saying, either you're going to pay for it, or you're going to leave. You don't get to just steal our stuff because you don't want to live within the rules of the house.

I am going to be such a crappy parent...I honestly thought the correct answer to that behavior would be to say, "OK, go."

That's what my folks did with me throughout my childhood, and I'd always back down when they called my bluff. Until I was 16, and I left home, and discovered that being homeless actually isn't awesome and rebellious and dramatic like in the movies.

There you go. That's actually a perfect analogy for how I feel toward the Confederates: either pay rent and obey the house rules, or move out.

And it's not that I want them to be miserable and homeless and dying in the gutter...I'd just as soon they move out and live on their own and do things their way, if they really are so miserable here! If they want to get their own place and make all their own house rules, no problem! I just don't want to have to keep cleaning up their messes and paying their bills while they scream at me and fling poo at my head.

I actually called this one months ago. That being said I am about to make myself public enemy number 1 here on NSG.

I SUPPORT THE RIGHT OF THE PEOPLE TO SECEDE AND PERSONALLY BELIEVE THEY SHOULD!!! :o :o

But really it amazes me the people who believe that the USA is number one, golden, righteous and the greatest land in the world filled with rainbows. I cannot wait until they realize that they re actually passengers on the USS TITANIC. This government and so called "UNION" is a shipwreck that will bite us all in the backside very soon. This is no more a Union than the freaking USSR was. Our Union died out around the 1860s when armies were used by the feds to "preserve the union". HELLO!! You cannot preserve a Union with force! It is a Union because all parties want to be there. Not because you invaded, stole their resources, burned their livelyhood, leveled their cities, killed and raped their people and then occupied their land. That is called imperialism. That is exactly what the US is today. The American Empire!!! All hail Ceasar! I mean the president...and those that think a war settled the secession question. Force of arms only proves who can exploit who. Do you teach your children to beat the hell out of a weaker kid and steal his lunch money and if successful well that proves he was right and justified in doing so? You cannot use armies to settle the question. And secession is basically democracy anyways. The people vote, petition and decide to change or abolish their own government and institute a new one when they choose. I thought we liked democracy here. But only if it takes no power from the federal government which I suppose will last forever and be an eternal agent of peace and prosperity. I had much rather see the USA end with some states leaving, shaking hands and bidding farewell while wishing good luck than some nationwide crisis like an economic depression or war causing a big economic collapse. Want to know why that may be impossible? Power. The federal government desires power and continues to grow it. We used to have something called a constitution to cage that beast until it was decided that instead it will better serve us as federal toilet paper. They dont give two cents about the people of the USA any more than the Government of North Korea. In short ALL man-made institutions, including Governments will inevitably die. You cannot stop it. You cannot change it. And it will happen. The only thing there is to decide is when and how.

I love Georgia. I do not wish ill for Arizona but I have no affections for it simply because it is a state in this grand empire. My home is in Georgia, my family, my people, my ancestors, my history and my grave will be in Georgia. If we, the people of Georgia choose to remain within the boundries of the US fine. If we choose to leave than thats great. But I will be damned if we will be forced to stay. We are a free people even if the feds forgot that little fact a long time ago.

So please stop calling anyone who wants their people and land to leave the good ole USA stupid, ignorant, in bred, racist hicks just because they think so. In fact listen to some of them, you may actually learn something.

Now I will not make another post on this thread because I simply do not have the time nor desire to do so. And before you start calling me a racist hick I have to go in a couple hours to drive my black wife to our in-laws house for her fathers birthday party. I'm white by the way. :)

How long must the flag be all-red before we can call the medics?
Or should we delay that discussion until we are all agreed that it is a good time to discuss that because the flag has been all red long enough?
