I would like to just give a shout out to all my fellow trans sisters and brothers on this day, Trans Remeberance Day, a reminder of how far we stall have to go to achieve our equality. May that day come sooner rather than later and all of you find yourselves the support and love you need and desire.

Well said, I wasn't able to make it to my campus' ceremony today but I'll be having a private moment of silence when I'm finished with my classes.

Aw thats so amazing, I need to move to wherever you live. I sadly live in a country where Roman Catholicism is the official state religion and the LGBT 'scene' is practically underground and quite frankly dangerous. :(

I'm sad to hear that. Separation of Church and State is essential. Do you want to live your country?

I agree, the church has no business with the state, I tried telling them, but they don't listen :p

Do I want to live in my country? No..I mean it has some pretty amazing stuff, but I doubt that some laws will change in the foreseeable future. I'd rather live wherever you live or at least any other place that allows me to marry whomever I fall in love with.

Yeah, I know how that feels. Well, not the "dangerous" part, but the rest of it is a situation I find myself in.

Well, my coming out was quite boring.

My mother said she knew since I was little and didn't care, my dad simply said he didn't care, and my brother, sister, aunt, and grandma were much the same.

I'm fortunate. :S

i seem to be the token hetero person in a gay/bi household. meh. ain't no thing. my dad became increasingly homophobic as senility set in, but he's long gone now.

I don't see how that's a bad thing. My father apparently never imagined that I would turn out bi/pansexual. It was one hell of a shock to him.

Then try moving to Canada (where I am), or the USA (some States allow same-sex marriage), or some countries in Europe (Spain for one, probably France very soon).

In what country are you exactly?

I would leave out that second part. As long as they keep putting human rights to a vote I wouldn't advise people to move to the US of A

I just opened up to a guy I really liked and told him how I felt. A few seconds of silence, then he started laughing and told me I was a funny guy.

That works. When I came out, the guy said that me being gay was "kinda cute, actually" before assuring me that he wasn't the same.

Thing is, he didn't know I was gay. He was the first person I told outside of the internet.

Somestimes the first time doesn't go as well as we would have hoped. Especially if the first time, you tell someone you like... Now, tell someone else too, shoud go better :)

To be honest, I suspect it wasn't so much that he didn't believe you as he was felt really awkward knowing you were sexually attracted to him, and so he tried to laugh it off.

As is the way with most things.

But congratulations on finding the courage to tell someone. :)

I figured, if Mr Garrison can do it twice, I can do it.

The first person is often the hardest. I wish you the best for the future.
