It's a start. I don't expect Canada to join the USA tomorrow. But hopefully as the years go one they will see the benefit of joining with us. They will realize that to align themselves with America is to align themselves with freedom, strength and prosperity.

By being annexed into a economically weakened state where their vote would count for little when it comes to matters of the state.
Yeah good luck finding any sensible people to support that.

Well, as a French and English-speaking Canadian, I'll have to put down your offer to ANNEX my fine nation, and I will stand by Canadian sovereignty, even if it means I have to pick up a gun and fight.

Why would we be unwilling to become part of the USA?

One: A religion-based government. Like it or not, the American government is heavily based on one's religious beliefs.

Two: We enjoy the way our own government is running this country, and the way our police and courts exercise justice in our cities, the way our mayors run our municipalities.

Three: I will not stand for the American-styles of education being integrated into Canada. I live in Alberta, and if you ask me, our curriculums, special needs curriculums, teachers, and reading material, are all fine, if not better than that of the States, where they are.

Four: I will not be dragged into a nation that spends a good majority of it's budget on pointless wars for oil, I will not be dragged into a pure capitalist economy, and I will not be dragged into a nation where the rich are prioritized.

Oh, and did I mention that I'm a minor who wishes he could vote already?
To be exact, I turn fifteen tomorrow.

Yeah. Like, forget all those previous Canadian provincial borders or linguistic differences. Manitoba? How about Upper Minnesota? And forget the Maritimes, they're French now.

Exactly. Zeonic, your argument actually falls a little flat because what is now the United States consists of former territories of France, Britain, the Netherlands, Russia, Spain, and of course the Sovereign Kingdom of Hawaii
