While both would properly benefit greatly, I think there would be too many disagreements for an effective merger.

Trying to impose a uniform culture after a military victory centuries ago is what made Quebec what it is today, so yeah... that won't work.

It would be as beneficial as the Russian takeover of the central Asian khanites in the 19th century to the natives

True we would have to find a way to unite our constitutions. For example I don't think Canadians would be able to accept the right to keep and bear arms nor Americans accept official multiculturalism and bilingualism.

As a Canadian I cannot see the negatives outweighing the positives if we joined the USA. We're fine the way we are. Frankly if we were annexed to the US i'd be first in line to help start a resistance. The idea quite frankly DISGUSTS me. Not that I have a problem with Americans, I just LOVE Canada. Screw this idea, why would someone even seriously consider the idea in the first place?

Terrorists, separatist political parties, "National Assembly" of Quebec, Bill 101...

I'd suggest researching Quebec's position within our Confederation a teensy bit more.

This is clearly a well thought-out plan that has taken into account the differences and similarities between Canada and the US for optimal comfort of all citizens.

Too bad you missed the election. If you ran on this, you would have swept both elections. I mean, Canada could just hold another election.

It's not like they have their own politics.

You sir (Greater Niffgard) seem to be quite ignorant about Canada - this should help. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bV_041oYDjg

But canada has been a territory the entirity of it's existance i mean on paper it's still a colony of the English no?

Last time i checked anyway.

Well correction some of it has been a territory it's entire existance some of it is sovereign territory i guess if you want to call it that :meh: I wouldn't though.
