Perhaps. But this is irrelevent because I could just as easily say that in such a hypothetical world the US has a higher population than China. As I've said many times, I'm a realist and thus prefer to focus on the world as it actually is.
Then why can you not understand that Canada neither benefits from joining the United States nor do they achieve anything other then becoming a colony to a larger nation.

No, we're discussing your commitment to a principle you've used to justify your beliefs. We're not just tossing around random hypotheticals. So, what would your answer be in this scenario?
I'm trying to gauge whether this is a consistent belief, or whether you are just trying to legitimise a blatant act of imperialism.
Ok fine. I'll play ball.
Yes, if that was the case, it would be justified. But it isn't because in RL America is the greatest nation on Earth.

GDP means nothing to the average citizen? Are you serious?
If instead of 15 Trillion, the USA had a GDP of 5 dollars do you really think that wouldn't have any impact on the lives of Americans?
No, GDP means nothing. Average wages, standards of living, cost of living. Even GDP per capita is a better measurement.

Don't forget the moon base. Though given the United States accounts for more than 40% of the world's military expenditures by itself, if you can't afford a moon base on that, maybe you should just call it quits.
