Talk about possessive! It's almost as if children don't have any actual agency or capacity to make decisions.

I was spanked as a child and I can honestly see a difference in behavior in kids who haven't then ones who have. Spanking and abuse is two very different things.

I'm not. You're going around telling people who don't think smacking is child abuse and telling them that it is. That is insinuating that they were wrong in the first place and that you think you are right.

And this is all present in the attitude with which you respond to other posters.

It just isn't. You're a child abuse apologist and should feel ashamed /sarcasm.

Zaras wrote:Talk about possessive! It's almost as if children don't have any actual agency or capacity to make decisions.

Not until their brain develops reasoning and the child goes through the process of learning what is right and what is wrong. If you have this idea that children are as independent and as capable of reasoning as adults then you have another thing coming.

Legally, they don't. As a person, and realizing that kids are people too, I like to think I would give them a horrible amount of leeway to make their decisions, right or wrong.

No different than abusers conditioning their victims to believe that what they're doing is normal.
