Actually American Football has caught on in Europe. There is even a European wide league - http://www.efaf.info/

Then, why is it when I hear of football, I always see soccer?

I don't necessarily see what's so bad about using the word "soccer".

Don't call it American rugby. American rugby is a different thing. How should I know? Because I'm American, and I play rugby. Look up USA Rugby. Hell, even Canada has rugby. Look up Rugby Canada.
You don't call Australian football Australian rugby do you? Call American football American football. Call Canadian football Canadian football, and call European football by its proper name, Association football.
Ironically, you can blame the British for Americans using the term "soccer."
Though I find this whole "waaaugghh our sport is better than yours" nonsense to be amusing. Although, really, *anything* is better than the NHL right now.

7's is in the olympics. Not union or league (though league isn't proper rugby anyway).North California wrote:Look at America, we have a variety of sports that are popular, from baseball, basketball, hockey, motor sports, football, soccer. Not really. Theres fucking loads of different sports in Europe.
I'm not saying American football gaining popularity is terrible or anyhting, but adding diversity? Please. We've got cheese rolling.
