Ummm, please explain to me how posting that homosexuality is something that needs to be cured...is not flamebaiting?

There are two separate points here.

1) Arguing that homosexuality is something that needs to be cured is not inherently flamebaiting or trolling provided the person making that argument doesn't otherwise break site rules. It is an opinion that will prove unpopular in NSG, no doubt, and I expect the majority here to vigorously rebut the opinion, but it is also an opinion that's regularly expressed - however regrettably - in mainstream political debate in several nations.

Jokes aside, somehow I'm starting to think I had a wrong understanding of anti-homosexual supporters. As for me, I find homosexuality "natural" as we humans didn't invented it ; as stated above, lots of animals showed homosexual behaviors along the centuries we spent studying them. I find it a little arrogant to pretend being able to understand any divinity's plans and wishes about how it works when we already proved ourselves misunderstanding things more times than anyone could remember. Earth is flat, remember ? God made it that way.

Now I understand what I missed before : the simple fact that anti-homosexual supporters seem to see this orientation as a disease.
Holy dragons. Of course. The poor ones can't even understand they're doing wrong because the Disease blinds them in a false feeling of contentment. Poor, poor abnormal monsters we hope to one day cure with a pill like the flu ("Straightopticol 400, now in every drugstore" [insert jingle here]). I personally was stunned to hear a woman seriously explaining that if her child was to become gay, she'd pity him/her and pray for him/her to find someone who would cure it. That was definitely one of the eeriest things I saw this year, but more terrifying is the fact that it's an undefendable explanation : you don't agree ? It's simply because you're already infected. Here, take a pill, it'll give you back the righteous view that the wicked Desease robbed you.
What's the next step ? Homosexuality is a drug, it sucks out peoples' mind and turn them into drooling, brainwashed zombies ? We'd just need to deprive them and it'll all be good ? Even if they feel horribly wrong for the rest of their lives, it's just the price to pay for having let this disease infect you, after all. I can't help but remember something similar that was the "normal" and "moral" way of thinking not so long ago : black peoples have no soul. Poor ones are barely able to serve us or run nude in the bushes, and even then we're doing them a favor.

Now I won't compare slavery and homosexual discrimination, the differences are numerous between them. I'll only compare the way of thinking these two problems (being black and being homo) as some unnatural, sinful behavior that can be cured.
Well, you don't "heal" from your sexual orientation any more than you "heal" from your skin tone*, your hair color or your taste for pears (poor one, she thinks a pear is good. Let's teach her that only apples are good, for her own sake). It's inside you, it's what your education, your experiences, your genes and the whole society around you led you to be. Nobody is raised as a gay, a straight, a bi or whatever, nor anyone suddenly fall lesbian.

I'm perfectly aware that my post won't change anything, but still I'd just like to add a last thing : everyone has the right to have its own opinion on any matter, homosexuality or anything else. But before showing mercy and compassion, just ask yourself : are you sure that imposing your way on someone else is the best thing to do in his interest ? That is a horrible idea. Speaking as a parent, I would never want that level of control over my kid.
