Which part of Northern Virginia? I hope not near the basin.

My grandparents are near the basin and my aunt is not.

Me too. But I'm not near the fault line, so we only get hail. Sometimes.

Yes, but in the mean time, its better to be here.... Although the super-massive earthquake that is the impending doom that will reign upon the west coast is the only thing I fear..... The worst things we get here though is.... Hail.... And......... Sometimes it floods...

I'm in Ireland but I have family in Boston, its hard to get straight talking news here apart from Twitter which isn't exactly reliable. How long before Sandy hits Boston does anyone know?

It already hit Virginia and Maryland, it should hit Boston within an hour.

It's pretty much over there. No direct hit. Some damage.

Out of concern, but mostly curiosity, how much will this storm affect Louisiana, if at all?

Sandy is no longer a hurricane. It's just one badass storm. It made landfall at 8pm local time (3 hrs ago). Boston is included in the areas damaged by mostly high water and power outages. But nothing serious coming out of that area at the moment.

It seems to have pulled up north of Louisiana. It might just get a teeny bit of rain.

Kk, cause my grandmother flew down to Louisiana just yesterday I believe, and I wanted to know if this will affect Louisiana.... I didn't think it would affect it that much, if at all, just had to know.

Not weatherwise, but flying has to be interesting. All the airports north of the Carolinas are closed and over 10,000 flights were cancelled. Equipment must be backing up all over the Midwest and South.
