It's interesting to look back at the first pages and see people who were unconcerned with the storm, and now see images on CNN and the Weather Channel with streets submerging some streets with a few feet of water. Hindsight is 20/20 I suppose.

I just saw an image with a car completely submerged - the first submerged car of Sandy.
*My relatives could be in that car! Drowning!

Neither tears nor prayer will affect their survival. Try optimism and patience instead - they won't affect your relatives' survival either, but you'll feel better while you wait for news. It's entirely probable that they're fine.

FDNY says Cony Island Hospital is surrounded by 3-4 ft of water.
University Hospital's back up generator failed and personnel are manually evacuating patients, some from the 9th floor.

If you did, you would still have a couple of months left.

I hope your relatives come through okay. Did you say where they are?

Meanwhile, winds are just starting to pick up here. We're always the last to experience anything. From about midnight to noon is when it's expected to be worst here. A lot of rain and 50 mph winds.
