Not really, you guys just don't know an ill person from a healthy one.

The problem is more that you do know an effective treatment from an ineffective one but keep inexplicably insisting on the latter.

Oh, there you go again. If you keep thinking this is just a "handful of people" whose "feelings are being hurt" instead of a real issue of societal oppression, that's your problem, not mine.

As I've said before, with 7 billion people on Earth you will get people who offended by just about anything and everything. To try and satisfy every little group would be foolish and unfeasible.

That is a nonsensical argument that trivialises the oppression and discrimination LGBT people face. Make a better one or come back after you've educated yourself on the topic some more.

Is this an actual thing? I've worked with and socialised with transgendered people before and none of them ever complained of being 'otherised'.

Even better option: omit the honorifics entirely.

Why?

Oh gods.

I had a several-page long argument on a transgender forum with someone who claimed that "dude" erased female identities and contributed to the wholesale adoption of "male" as a social default.

Sometimes I feel like I involve myself with the wrong people.

There is an out of control trolley speeding towards Jeremy Bentham, who is tied to the track. You can pull the lever to cause the trolley to switch tracks, but on the other track is Immanuel Kant. Bentham is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Critique of Pure Reason. Kant is clutching the only copy in the universe of The Principles of Moral Legislation. Both men are shouting at you that they have recently started to reconsider their ethical stances.

You've got pretty low standards for 'societal oppression' if you think it includes checking Mr/Mrs on a piece of paper.

No. Getting upset about checking a box on a piece of paper is what trivializes LGBT discrimination.

Gay people face execution in Iran. There are many places where they face lynch mobs and stoning. THATS oppression. There are more important issues than the title on some stupid form, yet the transgender community is so full or themselves they decide to get upset about this instead of actual oppression.
