Hence my issue with saying I am Jewish. I am Jewish, was raised as a religious Jew, but consider myself an Agnostic Atheist while being culturally Jewish.

I think there should've been more options than just "Christian" because some forms of Christianity are so distinct from others; for example Mormonism or Catholocism or Greek Orthodoxy. I personally AM simply "Christian" as I'm a nondenominational, but still it would've been nice to see the exact statistics inside Christianity itself.

There isn't room for all denominations on poll.
Also Mormons aren't Christians. :P

Atheists and agnostics together are the 45%, but have fun celebrating your little 'victory'. I vaguely remember something about being Christian and humility, but that's probably not relevant at all.

At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

I know they aren't, yet they call themselves Christians. Another denomination other than the LDS Church that fall into that category are the Jehovah's Witness among others.

By using the plural first person pronoun "we" I think Papajacky is trying to say he's PART OF the 32% (atheists), which currently make up 32% (not Christians who make up 33%). Also YOUR comment is not relavent at all; this is a public forum, not some formal convention of religiouss delegates, so if it was a Christian shouting "we are the 32%" it would not such a deal as you are making it.

Well, I don't consider it Christianity when it was founded because Smith claimed Christianity had "lost its way" and needed to be reformed. Even though it keeps the idea of salvation through Jesus, there are a wide range of subjects in which the Book of Mormon contradicts the pure and original form of Christianity: the Bible.

So? What is pure christianity then? All the denominations you disagree with are wrong then because they don't abide by what you believe to be christianity?

That was not the point I meant to make: that there is only one true Christianity. The point I tried to make was that Mormonism and Christianity do not belong in the same category due to the fact that the doctrine of the LDS church (Book of Mormon and Journal of Discourses) go in direct contradiction to the Bible. Now, I am not a Christian fundamentalist nor a fanatical religious zealot, I was just saying that Mormon doctrine Nd Christian doctrine are not that similar with a few exceptions and therefore should not, in MY OPINION, notbe recogniyed as "Christian" but have its own category. Again, that's MY personal opinion. Obviously there is no "perfect" or "correct" Christianity nor do I say there is, all I said is that I live by what I read in my Bible.

I'm surprised that there are so many Muslims on NSG, at least in relation to Jews. The amount of posts on the Jewish discussion thread compared to the Islam one would of suggested otherwise.

"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman
