Speeding up the earth from his grave? That's because Nobel's coffin is used as a treadmill by Chuck Norris

Perhaps the European Union could get a lease on Nobel's grave. Imagine that - unlimited energy as long as they exist.
Better than planting the North Sea full of ugly white windmills and turning Germany - of all places - into a solar power plant.

Jesus christ, you would have thought the one place you'd be safe from NIMBY idiocy was in the middle of the ocean, but I guess that was too much to ask for.

It's not really an ocean. And if you take a ferry between mainland Europe and the north of the England, you'll usually come across them.
Just hope you're on a night ferry and get to sleep for most of the time, because the sight of several of those ghastly white things at day is not pretty.

As for turning Germany into a solar power plant, and I've seen some of the fields, it's a bit daft. I mean, of all places to place solar panels, they pick Germany?

People who like to take a breath on a deck, only to be disturbed by these white windmilly bastards.
Or people who are sitting in a restaurant eating, and suddenly see these white windmilly bastards.

I just don't see what disturbing about windmills in the ocean. Do they sound some kind of alarm when they turn? Do they have "KILL ALL JEWS" or something painted on them? Does the power they generate go to puppy kicking machines?

Tilting at windmills is meant to be a figurative thing, y'know.

I can't say I noticed any such feeling. But maybe I'm not European enough.

I liked watching dolphins on the ferry from Galveston to Crystal Island, but that's just me :3

Srsly though, I wouldn't have a problem with windmills on the journey, even if they did scare away the local dolphins. That's what the aquarium at Moody Gardens is for :)

Only if they were built by an Arab company. :p

No, but certainly to fur farms, nuclear power plants and everything else the left gets extremely butthurt about at times.

So is that your objection, that wind farms in the ocean are power fur farms or nuclear power plants?

And they spin. Things that spin are inherently better than things that don't.

Then take a ferry route that doesn't go past them. Seriously, there's hundreds of them (all of them publishing their routes well in advance), and 360 million square kilometres of ocean. It's not difficult.

Why not Germany? They've (stupidly) moved away from nuclear, so they need the extra power generation.

I agree with you - they certainly fit into the countryside much better than another Windscale Sellafield.

I don't even think Japan shoulda stopped, tbh. It took a freakishly powerful natural occurrence to fuck up Fukushima - as I recall, the most powerful quake on record there. I wouldn't blame the world for thinking twice about their safety measures, but to stop using nuclear power entirely as a result? Pshaw.

And nothing that bad actually happened because of Fukushima. Even after getting tsunami'd, everything was basically fine. Nothing blew up, no new kaiju, no one got superpowers.
