Obama sees an increase in the polls.

Obama should probably have punched Romney in the face and told him 'Good luck in 2016. And 2020.' instead of recalling some pseudo-eloquent prewritten statement.

I would've preferred a cock-slap, but then that would just hurt his ratings on national TV.

Would've been pretty funny, though. One for the books.

It's because Romney doesn't have any solid details on his economic plan, so he's pretty beat there. All he can really do is point out that Obama hasn't gotten us out of debt (even though the economy has improved, so that's a bit moot).

As for foreign policy, Romney is basically bitch-slapping the founding fathers in the face. He keeps bringing up the idea of "allies and friends", when the founding fathers specifically were against "permanent and entangling alliances".

I'd call it a fair assessment, Obama never let a chance to hit Romney slide and put him on the defensive a lot.

That's pretty much what the folks on ABC are saying. Romney got hammered.

The only point made in Romney's favor was that he was able to turn the debate towards the economy and domestic policy so often.

Pretty much.

Romney first cried to the mod to give him a chance, then when Obama brought up that he did nothing to save the auto industry in Detroit, he cried ad hominem.

I'd call all this an astoundingly loud "YES!"

Yes but they lived in a time without steam power, and lived in the barest sliver of what is now the US, so their alleged (alleged) views should be basically disregarded.

That's true, but if Romney's supposed to be representing "conservatives" then the least he could've done was done the whole fallacy where he points out "OBAMA YOU EVIL YOU STOMP ON MEMORY OF FOUNDING FATHERS!"

Romney spent the entire debate reeling. Obama was aggressive and Mitt Romney was flighty. He straight up refused to answer some questions and did everything in his power to avoid getting within the presidents reach.

We told him not to beat Obama in the first debate. We warned him of what rage he would unleash, but did he listen? Nooooo, he had to win, and now look what happened? Ebil Mecha-Obama has risen from the ashes of pansy Obama.

Anybody noticed those awkward 10 seconds in the latter part of the debate where Romney's staring at the camera?

Problem is we can't be neutral in the modern world. We can be non-interventionist, but we can't truly be neutral.

If we try to please everyone, we end up pleasing no one. We should have some friends, and we will have enemies, but we don't need to be as deep as we are today (constant occupation of the Middle East).

It's also very unrealistic, and siding yourself against the British and injuns of various flavours isn't really the imposition of neutrality.

I missed 3/4 of the debate but the quarter I managed to catch sounded like Romney was saying, "My foreign policy is just like Obama foreign policy except more so. Can we talk about the US economy, now?" and Obama saying, "Bitch, you can't even spell foreign policy."

Did I get the gist?
"My loathings are simple: stupidity, oppression, crime, cruelty, soft music."
- Vladimir Nabokov US (1899 - 1977)
Also, me.
“Man has such a predilection for systems and abstract deductions that he is ready to distort the truth intentionally, he is ready to deny the evidence of his senses only to justify his logic”
- Fyodor Dostoyevsky Russian Novelist and Writer, 1821-1881
"All Clock Faces Are Wrong." - Gene Ray, Prophet(?) http://www.timecube.com
A simplified maxim on the subject states "An atheist would say, 'I don't believe God exists'; an agnostic would say, 'I don't know whether or not God exists'; and an ignostic would say, 'I don't know what you mean when you say, "God exists" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignosticism

People are already tossing around that their side won as usual. Trying to look through the eyes of a non-partisan voter, I really did not notice a distinct winner this time. I thought both candidates handled it better than in the town hall debate but it still wasn't great. I don't think this will have much of an effect in the polls or anywhere else. Feel free to disagree though, I usually receive flak for my post-debate observations anyway.

Pretty much.

All that didn't happen is Obama didn't get violent and punch Romney's face in. Shame, I would've paid to see that in HD.

No, if someone said that after the wake of the second debate, I highly doubt they regret what they said. They probably think that Obama still lost.

Switzerland seems happy.

Anyways, I didn't mean total isolationism. Non-interventionism is what I meant. Some wars, like the Revolutionary War are justified and necessary. Others, like Iraq, Vietnam, and Afghanistan are not.

You did miss the best part of Romney's opener.
