Then why is he taking responsibility for Libya?

Hillary took responsibility. But as Commander in Chief, Obama is saying that he wished he could have done more. Not much more he can do.

Unfortunately it's not doing him any favors. He's basically been telling all viewers and voters that Obama has done an awesome job in defending the US, and darnit I couldn't do better. Which is not what people want to hear, really, or how to convince people.

Strategy Obama probably doesn't realize, when he looks at Romney and projects, he gets picked up by both mics and sounds 'bigger'..
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

Afghanistan is a fundie shithole, it is literally one of the most worthless pieces of land on the planet. Them and Somalia are probably the biggest wastes of time in history.

Why didn't he take the opportunity just there to point out that Romney said he'd kick the can down the road? Romney just said it's the President's fault Israel isn't closer to a peace agreement. The same peace agreement Romney got caught on tape saying it was impossible.

I think I see a trap being set by Obama by talking about shipping jobs over to China. Romney needs to be very careful about how he responds, being as how he was in charge of a company that actually did just this.

IIRC, the last people to TCB in Afghanistan had to do so by building mountains of skulls.

This is a cheap extremist trick. No one, president or not, can say no Americans will die at the hands of terrorists.
