I punted.
"...I have been gravely disappointed with the white moderate. I have almost reached the regrettable conclusion that the Negro's great stumbling block in the stride toward freedom is not the White Citizen's Council-er or the Ku Klux Klanner, but the white moderate who is more devoted to "order" than to justice; who prefers a negative peace which is the absence of tension to a positive peace which is the presence of justice; who constantly says "I agree with you in the goal you seek, but I can't agree with your methods of direct action;" who paternalistically feels he can set the timetable for another man's freedom; who lives by the myth of time and who constantly advises the Negro to wait until a "more convenient season." -MLK Jr.

It was the name I gave the land in an epic novel I started writing along with most of the other names I use, Dnalkrad, Niap, Worros, Raef, Ynoga, and so on and so fourth. They call come from the same novel, which I need to complete already, I've only been writing it for 8 years.

This nation was supposed to become a reloplaying nation, centered around a "University of Planet" like ideology as found in the computer game "Sid Meiers Alpha Centauri". As such, the term "Alma Mater" just presented itself.

The roleplaying however never happened. Except that there is a tiny, tiny IC component to some of my anti-religious rants on general.

Based on a couple of short stories by Rafiael Allosius Lafferty. (one was called parent teacher apparatus, and i forget at the moment the name of the other one. "anyone can form a committee" also comes from these) because at the time, my previous nation that had lapsed do to technical difficulties on my end, seemed to be unrivivable, and i couldn't think of another that fit better. the previous nation was called carlemnaria. cameroi is basically the same place. only the name was been chainged to bring it back to life.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

I could not think of anything so I looked around my desk and saw something with the word "fiction" written on so I went with "Fictions"

As for my puppet "Terraficial Blanc" I did not choose the name a friend did, because it was originally their nation but they got bored after 5 minutes and gave it to me.

I wanted a name that suited the Libertarian/Idealist/Anti-authoritarian theme of my nation. I remembered getting those types of messages from the grunge and alternative musical movement in the 1990's.

So, Grunge Rock—the music that influenced me—became "Grungerock".

My name is fairly random. My first nations (long since dead and I don't remember the pw's so I can't revive 'em) were all based off my name, Adrian. (nations were Adria, Adris, etc) Then, I randomly decided on the name Peaceful Tigers and liked it cuz it was kinda contradictory and all. Then I made a new nation and thouht "hey, llamas are cool, I'll be PL!"

I was messing one day with the Sindarin dictionary, messing up with particles, and found a word I did like. "Aelosia" is supposed to mean "The pool of frozen dreams". Quite poetic. The sound was a bit spanish/portuguese, and had a certain female characteristic, so I kept it.

I gave my nation the name of a village in the north of the Netherlands, because I liked the sound of it. It's that simple.

At this point, we've pretty much proven that not only can evolution happen, it pretty much must happen since it's basically impossible to prevent it from happening.

My old nation had a math related name, and I wanted to stick with that. Limaconsare polar curves; they look kind of like hearts. "New" I chose because Limacon was already taken.

I copied off of the movie Borat, with Kazakhstan, which is actually a real country! Imagine that. Anyways 'snazzy' was one of my favorite words at the time so I just kind of mixed them and got this. About as creative with naming things as a pirate. :?

My usual gamer tag is Bad_Skeelz, and thought it would be amusing to build a straight-laced machismo militaristic star empire around such a silly name. I think I derived the spelling by mashing Skeelz with Germania, not truly understanding that the '-ia' the proper suffix, not '-ania.' Or perhaps I just thought Skeelzania sounded better than Skeelzia.

My first nation... I had drawn a random fantasy map and one of the cities in it was Këlë...when it came to making my first nation here, that seemed the nicest one to use. As umlauts are not available for nation titles, I had to go with "Kele", but I still pronounce it the way Këlë was always pronounced in my head: "KAY-LAY".

As for Anumia...a more interesting story.

As Kele, I had joined The Anumist Alliance (oh yes, that place), but shortly after it went to war with The Persian Empire, and the founder of TAA, LawtonPrk (yup, him), was deleted...for griefing TPE I believe. TAA was thrown into chaos without a Founder, and everyone was ordered into The Anumist Alliance 2. Meanwhile, I fled. I cannot remember if I made the region immediately, or if I ran off with Kele to some other region, but shortly afterwards I founded the Neo Socialist Alliance with a new nation, Sulkia, which was also the first to sign up to the United Nations. (I did not want Kele tainted by the UN :P Incidentally, Sulkia was the first and I think only nation of mine to ever be warned/modified for breaching any game/UN rules...kiiiiinda helped grief a region that had only one nation in it, and I lost UN status).

Very soon after however, I wanted to re-establish communications with TAA2 as I had already met and made some friends there (including Lawton...at the time). So, I went with the name "Anumia" and the motto "Forever bonded to Anumia and the Anumist Alliance" (which is perhaps a little defunct now, given that Anumia is currently not in TAA :P).

Most of my other nations are a branch off from Anumia - "Anumian Infantry", "Anumian Captain", "Anumian Officer", are probably the most famous (infamous?) of the group, but after some time I coalesced my forum names into just plain "Anumia", and then for anyone here that actually knows me (given that I ignored the Jolt NSG forums and will probably do so here too, I doubt it, but oh well), I decided Anumia should be taken as a last name, with my first name becoming Julian.

Since then, the Anumian name has been carried to many people for their formal or forum names in various regional or organisational forums, and there have been one or two nations not controlled by myself that also pay homage to the Anumian name (they do not impersonate me though, merely note their common last name of "Anumia" due to being in the same NS family, so I have no problem), and has become a fairly recognisable name in many regions (at least in the invader/imperialist sphere, ironic because Anumia was a defender), as well as (I believe) the most-used surname in NationStates.

So, I must have picked a good name. :)
