Man, SOOOOOOOOOOooooooooooo much money.
Fame too.

But they have! And they were HUSHED up by the MEDIA And the Scientific Community, which is like the Illuminati, but worse, because at least the Illuminati supports pro-business policies.

With all the anti-science sentiment in the US and the wide availability of nutjobs it's not terribly surprising.

True enough. Just be aware that the anti-science sentiment does not come from one single source.

Science used to have good news to tell, but these days it is the messenger of Bad News.
'Science' didn't create the Bad News, it merely reports it.
But that doesn't stop people from thinking that the best solution is simply to shoot the reporter.

I'm disgusted but not terribly surprised. If you say something that people don't like, they get pissed off. Some of them are stupid enough to act stupidly upon their anger.

Ever watched Richard Dawkins read his hate mail? It's hilarious.
"The Nixon campaign in 1968, and the Nixon White House after that, had two enemies: the antiwar left and black people. You understand what I'm saying? We knew we couldn't make it illegal to be either against the war or black, but by getting the public to associate the hippies with marijuana and blacks with heroin, and then criminalizing both heavily, we could disrupt those communities. We could arrest their leaders. raid their homes, break up their meetings, and vilify them night after night on the evening news. Did we know we were lying about the drugs? Of course we did."—former Nixon domestic policy chief John Ehrlichman

Watching it again, I just realized Ann Coulter was one of the ones who sent him an e-mail. That makes it even more hilarious.

Stop making this out to be about polluters. I am more environmentally conscious than the average person, and even I doubt climate change because I don't doubt that deterring pollution would give the climate scientists a powerful incentive for dishonesty.

So the vast majority of climate scientists could be being dishonest? Shit, why haven't they been found out yet? The people need to know!

Of course they're mad in the US, if climate change is real then it means THEY ARE GOING TO HAVE TO SUFFER to either change their ways or when it really gets bad.

The older crowd, most who are deniers, don't give a damn because they'll be dead before the worst happens, meanwhile religious nuts thing it's a GOOD THING because it'll bring the "Second Coming" of Christ.

Mix in the polluting industries, the oil industry, Rich people in general, poor ignorant people who get spoon fed the 'facts' who don't believe in science because they got Fs on their report cards.

We should do that anyway, if only because such energy is limited and we should be saving it for when we might need it more. But this is about climate change itself, not the otherwise pragmatic value of solutions to it.

given that people actually hacked into the archives of their private email accounts in order to smear them with lies and blatant misrepresentations, this doesn't even seem like a particularly paranoid thing to do. personally, i'd declare correspondence between scientists totally off-limits except in criminal cases and the like. no fishing trips.

the relevant data (as opposed to private conversations) has been public for years and years. easily accessible online, too.
