We can believe in God because He made our reasoning so that we can trust it.

Except Satan can influence your reasoning.

fantasy is indeed irrefutable proof, that humans are capable of writing fantasy. hurray.

the unknown is out there alright. the point though, is that it IS UN-known.

not devils, demons, angels, or gods, not likely having the slightest desire to be worshiped, not wishing us any particular harm, nor even having any more idea we exist then we do about it, but certainly real, and at least part of it both completely non-physical and non-imaginary. not limited to or by, what anyone or any one belief, claims or imagines to know about it.

not some hierarchy that everything that doesn't work for is naughty for not doing so. not some two or small number of such hierarchies in competition or conflict with each other, but rather a diversity all of human knowledge is no more then a tiny fraction of.

fantasies are cool. creating and exploring are the two things we were all born to do. they are what make us "human".

fanatical attachment to one set of suppositions about existence and the universe, is the very nearly exact opposite of that.
and THAT is the problem the with chauvinistic bigotry of christianity and the small percentage of other beliefs that may be at times nearly as fanatical.

Pretty much this. I mean yes a fantastic author, but I would not even begin to consider him in terms of proving the existence/lack of existence of something.
Likewise my own brother is fantastic with computers. That doesnt mean he has any credible basis for his ethical arguments/positions however.

Contrary to the propaganda, we live in probably the least materialistic culture in history. If we cared about the things of the world, we would treat them quite differently. We would be concerned with their materiality. We would be interested in their beginnings and their ends, before and after they left our grasp.

Because the Kami are, but that is my opinion, just like yours is your opinion. You see where I'm coming from, the exact reason you view me wrong is the reason I could view you wrong.

Your argument is an opinion and you should stop ignoring mine, its getting insulting and obvious.

What if I randomly killed someone? Would your deity be not guiding me towards murder, therefore being in no way benevolent and in fact evil? Deities are fairy tales created by humanity since their evolution to distract them from the chaotic violence of life, and give hope to a world without it. It's not only a logical deduction of why faith evolves, it also requires that none of the laws of physics be broken.
(And I believe is has been stated before on these forums, that if there was a deity, its actions include genocide, and therefore make it as evil as the mythical Cthulhu.)

Well for starters I'm a polytheist. I can honestly say I hate the concept of that bastard you call God. (You can't hate something that doesn't actually exist after all). That and I'd sooner throw my lot in with your "Satan" than your God. If that is his idea of guidance I'd say he is very, very bad at it.
