Kind of.

I do know that, it's just that Sauron gets way more characterization than Morgoth but Morgoth is clearly more evil. I couldn't decide what to put down.

Seriously, where the fuck is the characterization? I've read LOTR twice as well as being read it aloud to me when I was little, and I don't remember any real development of Sauron.

Excuse me, sir. Seeing as how the V.P. is such a V.I.P., shouldn't we keep the P.C. on the Q.T.? 'Cause if it leaks to the V.C. he could end up M.I.A., and then we'd all be put out in K.P.

We get to see how Sauron does things significantly more than Morgoth does things, is what I'm saying. In The Silmarillion Morgoth just builds an enormous fortress and makes orcs. In LOTR Sauron obviously has a more organized system, and a very clear plan.

1. Build a Ring and pour all your excess power into it, effectively pouring part of your soul in it as well.
2. Wear ring on exposed digit.
3. ?????
4. Profit.

There was no way that could have gone wrong. Never figured out why he didn't just make a belt or something less likely to be cut off. I mean, imagine if it was the Dentures of Power. Sounds lame but he wouldn't have lost them. So long as he didn't go to a restaurant that is.

Bilbo didn't find magic dentures of invisibility in the Hobbit, so it's not like Tolkien had much leeway. He wanted it to be related to the book he already wrote.

If I remember correctly, he had everything planned from the start. Therefore, something better than a ring, but more serious than dentures could have been chosen. I understand that he wanted to draw on ancient lore on valuables of power, such as rings and necklaces, but c'mon. If I was a superpowered magic warlord, I wouldn't pour my soul into anything that could be chopped off without killing me. Or you could swallow the ring.

If anyone ever discovers how to make superpowers, the first thing any wannabe villain should do is read up on human history, fictional books, epics, etc. Learn how fictional and historical figures got destroyed and think of a truly foolproof plan.

Sauron is more malevolent. More sinister. If it was not Sauron to take up the small (but essential) matters that Morgoth's blind wrath couldn't help him take care on, Morgoth's campaign would be more difficult for him.

I suppose it's what style of evilness you prefer. The "I am a big black guy (no racism here) who will destroy everything because that's the way...aha..aha....I like it..aha...aha" approach, or the "conquering/corrupting and strategicaly moving" one.

Anyway the are both going to fight in Dagor Dagorath so we will see who is better (probably Morgoth) in hand-to-hand combat. :)

And do not ever dare call my Master a bitch.

I just remembered Aaron from Titus. I can't think of a more badass villain.

Aaron. Indeed, I was their tutor to instruct them:
That codding spirit had they from their mother,
As sure a card as ever won the set; 2235
That bloody mind, I think, they learn'd of me,
As true a dog as ever fought at head.
Well, let my deeds be witness of my worth.
I train'd thy brethren to that guileful hole
Where the dead corpse of Bassianus lay: 2240
I wrote the letter that thy father found
And hid the gold within the letter mention'd,
Confederate with the queen and her two sons:
And what not done, that thou hast cause to rue,
Wherein I had no stroke of mischief in it? 2245
I play'd the cheater for thy father's hand,
And, when I had it, drew myself apart
And almost broke my heart with extreme laughter:
I pry'd me through the crevice of a wall
When, for his hand, he had his two sons' heads; 2250
Beheld his tears, and laugh'd so heartily,
That both mine eyes were rainy like to his :
And when I told the empress of this sport,
She swooned almost at my pleasing tale,
And for my tidings gave me twenty kisses. 2255

First Goth. What, canst thou say all this, and never blush?

Aaron. Ay, like a black dog, as the saying is.

Lucius. Art thou not sorry for these heinous deeds?

Aaron. Ay, that I had not done a thousand more.
Even now I curse the day—and yet, I think, 2260
Few come within the compass of my curse,—
Wherein I did not some notorious ill,
As kill a man, or else devise his death,
Ravish a maid, or plot the way to do it,
Accuse some innocent and forswear myself, 2265
Set deadly enmity between two friends,
Make poor men's cattle break their necks;
Set fire on barns and hay-stacks in the night,
And bid the owners quench them with their tears.
Oft have I digg'd up dead men from their graves, 2270
And set them upright at their dear friends' doors,
Even when their sorrows almost were forgot;
And on their skins, as on the bark of trees,
Have with my knife carved in Roman letters,
'Let not your sorrow die, though I am dead.' 2275
Tut, I have done a thousand dreadful things
As willingly as one would kill a fly,
And nothing grieves me heartily indeed
But that I cannot do ten thousand more.

Lucius. Bring down the devil; for he must not die
So sweet a death as hanging presently.

Pinhead with his dry sense of humour and Hannibal Lecter with his delicious (pun intended) intellectual evilness rank among my favourites.
Proud National Socialist. Blaming everything on the liberals since 2000.

The world is full of criminal enterprises and terrorist organizations. The most successful ones are known as states.

Life is like surfing the Internet - there's no meaning or purpose, yet you don't really want to quit either.

The fact that slaves are allowed to elect their masters does not abolish the division in masters and slaves.

Don't try to deride me by calling me an "-ist" or "-phobe" unless you are referring to a medical condition or are trying to compliment me.

Socially-liberal capitalist democracy DOES NOT equate to free society.

Contrary to popular belief, National Socialists aren't racists. They simply hate their own race less than others.
