I think some see Democrats as turncoats because they say they're pro-middle class and pro-worker but often don't come through. The GOP...Occupy knows where it stands. It's the hypocrisy, for many. I see it too, but I play both outside the system in Occupy and inside as a member of Progressive Democrats of America.

Good for you. The unwillingness of many in the movement to work inside the Democratic Party is what limits their strength, IMO.

There's a fear of control, though. Occupy is still trying to figure out how not to be used but, instead, to use the connections it can and disregard those who dismiss it.

So the occupy protestors choose to descend on the DNC rather than the RNC. That was a surprise.

I think it is good they are not letting themselves become the DNC's tea party. Though I think they were a little disruptive and overboard in the manner of their protest.

What says NSG ?

Indeed, Occupy only seems to be "disruptive" and "overboard" when the protest liberals. And yet, they actually were at the RNC but, like the pussies and idiots they are, they ran away because the big bad tropical storm was coming. On a side note, I noticed how all reporting of storm damage in New Orleans has ceased since DNC started. Apparently storms are now political as well.

I had the fortuitous opportunity to speak at length with an Occupy organizer after he spoke at a debate earlier this year. Based on the views he espoused, I can see the Occupy movement taking a shot at the DNC and the Democratic party in general.

meh, I would say " hordes of college students and hippies, plus some drugs and crying" as an overall look at the movement, but there are some legitament concerns.

What are we supposed to say ? If it's legal, authorized protest, fine. If it's not, might as well debate about the reasons that protest was not allowed.

I think doing something like this at the RNC would have been a complete waste of time. The DNC is supposed to be the group looking out for the 99%. Recently, they have failed to do so. This makes all the sense in the world, and I hope they get their message across to these Obama cheerleaders.

It's simply really. Money.

No, it's far far simpler than that.

They showed up. They showed up to protest, to vote in the primaries, and to vote in the general. They have the thing ever more valued than money- men who are willing to turn out.

I'm amazed that anyone still has the will to fight for the Occupy cause anymore. I though police brutality and suppression of free speech had crushed 'em this spring.

Anyway, I think the reason they're at the DNC is because their main cause was to draw the DNP to the left in the same way the Tea Party successfully dragged the RNP to the right. Of course, they didn't succeed, and they won't this time, but whatever.

The best way to invigorate a populous against a system is for that system to make martyrs. People love being victims, it makes everything you say so much more legitimate.

To be fair, in many cases the cops were using way too much force to subdue peaceful protesters.

They asked for it in mass a lot of the time though, and they were given ample reminders in some cases but when they were legitmently subdued by law enforcement they would bitch and cry wolf.
