The trick is to wait until it dies and spends a week or so in the sun before biting down. That way not only will it be dead for sure but all the other bigger predators that you can't beat will have taken their fill of it and left it to you.

No. Perhaps the poor countries will have to switch to a mostly vegetarianism diet, but the wealthier countries that can afford meat will have access to it.

That and mass starvation in the poor countries will likely help drop the population until it levels out on some sustainable level again.
