I once met a militant vegan
She told me her name was Tegan
She offered me her body
In a deal most shoddy
For she said no more meat for this wee man

We'll have crappier, cheaper meat, or starving africans.
Or people will give up on their aversion to grown meat.
You can have my steak when you pry it from my flabby, chubby hands.
We already have starving Africans now, whenever the rain fails and aid does not arrive, thank you.
And there are other reasons for it not arriving than just Corn being too pricey or something. Including - but not limited to - transportation-networks simply not existing or being marked as 'seasonal'.

Apparently it is so productive because sediment from the sea bed is channeled up an underwater valley upswelling in the bay. Now this is probably a completely mad idea that will be swiftly ridiculed, but could we not increase productivity in other areas of the world by creating similar upswellings artificially? A long pipe with a big fan blade at the end would seem fairly low tech.

All this means is that food gets transported less in poorer countries.
It sucks, but that's the rules we set up when we conquered everything so we have to play by them...
The West won't give up meat, it just wont happen. Failing a sudden shortage due to catastrophe which leaves everyone meatless for a few months and they realize it's not so bad, people will probably gladly turn a blind eye to their purchasing meat brutally screwing over the rest of the world.
"We africans need this land to grow our grain!"
"Sorry, we're raising grain here."
"Grow grain in your own land?"
"Nah, we're raising pig there."

Hey, did you guys know that human flesh tastes just like pork?
We've already come up with alternatives. Like soy burgers. And walnut burgers. And almond burgers. After a few months, you can't even tell the difference.
Except soy milk. I still don't like soy milk.

And today we could solve their problem without a significant drop in living standards. So we people (people with a decent internet connection implying a generally 1st or 2nd world standard of living) have nothing to worry about even if human population reaches 20x109. They do.
