Really? Show me in the Bible where it says Gluttony is a sin. New Testament, of course, with Christ fulfilling all before it.

Similarly, in the New Testament St. Paul chastises those whose "god is the belly"; that is those who are enemies of the Cross and whose minds are "set on earthly things" (Phil iii, 19)

No it isn't, as in my post I made no mention of Christianity. Instead, he just in his bias only consider the Christian viewpoint and refused to acknowledge any other religious's stance. Moreover, not all Christians only look at the Bible in determining God's will as Catholic philosophy has strongly argued why gluttony is a sin. Thus he is also anti those other Christian denominations.

For instance, his son was Robert Taft (one of the greatest Senators of all time), his grandson (Rob Jr) was also a Senator, and his great grandson (Bob) happened to be governor of Ohio.

That doesn't say Gluttony is a sin, that says there are people who are gluttonous who are enemies of the Cross.

While I recognize that gluttony is in fact a sin and that our bodies should be God's temple, I also recognize that everyone falls short of the standard set by God. Chris Christie's personal struggle is no different in the sight of God than someone who is a perpetual liar or someone who practices immorality. We've all fallen short of God's glory. We are all equal in that regard.

This is going to surprise you. This is going to shock and amaze you. Catholics use the Bible. Anyway, as Christy is a Christian, I assumed you were measuring him on his own metric.

Really? You're going to criticize him over his weight, something genetics may have had a huge impact in? Hey, remember when last time your party ostracized people for being genetically different (in their mind, disadvantaged)?

Oh, right.

You didn't just compare comments about someone's weight, as odious as they may be, to institutionalized racism.

I refuse to believe that you are actually this much of a partisan hack.

No, it wouldn't. I'm sure plenty of enemies of the cross eat Wheat Thins. Does not make Wheat Thins a sin.

This is going to shock and amaze you. Catholics are not Sola scriptura, and use other things besides the Bible to determine God's will. Some of that being writings of the popes, like Gregory the Great, and theologians, like Thomas Aquinas, both individuals which I named talked about gluttony being a sin. And guess what denomination Christy is? Hint it likes old men in funny hats that live in Rome, Italy.
