I like Stephen Fry's comment on the matter:

"…and I love when people watch, I don’t know, David Attenborough or a Discovery Planet type thing, you know, and see the absolute phenomenal majesty and complexity, and bewildering beauty of nature, and you stare at it, and then somebody next to you goes “and how can you say there’s no God? Look at that!”

And then five minutes later, you’re looking at the life cycle of a parasitic worm whose job is to bury itself in the eyeball of a little lamb, and eat the eyeball from inside while the lamb dies in horrible agony, and then you turn to them and say: “where’s your God now?”"

:D

I have to admit, that's pretty damn funny.

Common, but completely bullshit myth.

Pandas in captivity aren't much into sex.

Pandas in the wild have no such issues, they bang with the best of 'em.

They're getting killed off via habitat destruction, not lack of sex.

Of course, since the media in general wrote about 'No-Sex Pandas' without the addendum of 'In Captivity', a bunch of hurr durr nature is retarded conservation is for fags!' faggots proceeded to propagate the 'Pandas would go extinct if not for humans masturbating them! And you fell for it.

diversity, not hierarchy, is the nature of reality. if these things in the op were sapient, you'd have the movie alien. so just be happy you're not a crab, instead of crabbing about it.

people like hierarchy because they think it is simple, more simple then reality. well, guess what? more simple then reality is too simple to be true.

hierarchy has its uses, when a coordinated effort is required in less time then it would take to reach a consensus. but remember all the time, diversity surrounds hierarchy as the more dominant condition of reality, and invariably interpenetrates it as well.
truth isn't what i say. isn't what you say. isn't what anybody says. truth is what is there, when no one is saying anything.

I think anyone with half a brain realize that this is only an 'in captivity' issue. I did not for one moment think that pandas in the wild did not reproduce. If they didn't, they would have died out before even becoming a distinct species. So calm down and have a soda.

Edit: The far more impressive argument against the continued existence of the Panda is that it is a carnivore that eats bamboo. It should be quite obvious that, evolutionarily, it is destined for failure.

Surely you see the inherent hypocrisy in that statement? Human evolution is just as well proven as the evolution of any other species on the planet: perhaps even more so. By claiming humans didn't evolve, you're saying that you don't believe* in evolution.

* disclaimer: evolution is an observable phenomenon and your denial of it's existence doesn't change the fact that it occurs.

So you previous statement that they made no sense is that they were created, put in an environment where they were successful with the expectation that humanity would show up, ruin that environment, then try desperately to save them.
It seem the ones that make no sense there would be us, or the god that did that for a joke.

Such is the fate of any number of species through the years that fail to adapt successfully - evolution has no plan, no intent or design. The panda (or its ancestor) starts off carnivorous but evolves due to any number of factors to having a mostly herbivorous diet. It hasn't had time to fully adapt to that change (if it hadn't adapted at all it wouldn't be alive today)

So, perhaps it wouldn't be destined for failure. If it wasn't for the effect humans are having on its habitat it isn't implausible it would have continued to evolve to a point where its digestive system would became better suited to it's diet.

Many bears are fairly omnivorous (brown bears eat a mix of meat, fish, roots, berries, etc. for example). While they are in Carnivora, most don't just eat meat. And it was (as noted, including by you) doing them fine until humans started destroying the habitat.

Surely, that is evidence that evolutionarily it is an animal that would be destined for success, if only it had the space to copulate in.

So you have an organism which evolved to consume meat. It's environment changed such that it can no longer maintain a meat diet. It changes its habits to eat grass. It looks like it is perfectly capable of sustaining itself eating grass. Which is good, because there's plenty of that as a food source around. Eventually, you can imagine that with sufficient selective pressure, it's digestive system would get progressively better at digesting plants. <- Evolution

Humans move in and cut all the bamboo. There's fuck all else to eat now. <- extinction.
