I feel a bit safer knowing that only .1% of people in NYC have the permit to carry a gun outside of the home or workplace. Otherwise, this is a tragedy, and I am just glad my father was not working near the Empire State Building at that time.

They said the man was fired from his job. He may have just been upset about that and snapped.
Saying it began with him shooting a coworker, and then he left to another area, where someone reported him to police. As police approached him he pulled out a gun and began shooting.
All victims in the hospital expected to live; "suspect" worked for 6 years before being laid off

So we can blame this shooting on Obama and his economic policies.

I'm sure there are lots of crime prevention measures in place in New York City. That they're not perfect doesn't mean they don't exist.

New York City basically has their own crime and gun control laws separate to and superseding those of New York State. They are, obviously, much stricter.

It is almost impossible to get a hand gun permit in nyc unless your a cop or a judge.

The police randomly stop and frisk people of certain color in an attempt to find guns on them and unlicensed firearm possession is almost always an automatic 1 year prison sentence.

The gunman was a laid off fashion designer.

The gun only shot the former coworker/supervisor, and shot at police officers.

The other 9 injured were injured by police gun fire.
