True, I'm probably one of three people on TET who lives in California.

But I thought everyone on NS was a nerd, and therefore stayed up all night drinking Mt Dew Code Red trying to level up on Wow?!

Seems like the only help you're getting is advice on becoming more addicted than before. :p

As if I'm much better. I don't post often, but I'll spend hours reading a forty-something page thread, even if other NationStates users post faster than I can read. This is getting out of hand :!:

Mines just under 11.

Mine has steadily decreased from around 37/day to 29/day. The last week is probably responsible or the week before that...

Meant it as a sign of respect, actually.

It all depends how you view your post count. For example, I like a lot of my 6000-odd posts on this nation. The ones I don't like tend not to be in NSG.

New Nassrau wrote:Gosh... i've failed at least 3 tests because of Nationstates

Interesting. Assessments keep me away from NS.

Generally. Those of you familiar with certain threads know that it isn't permamnent. I've taken to switching off the internet...

Look at myself getting 2,800 posts in a month.

I might have done that a few months back if NSg had been active enough. It wasn't which is probably a good thing for me.

We actually do strangely enough. Also, TET isn't always running at full speed.

Not to the same extent as some threads. For example, there are threads where posts from days back are replied to and then spark chains of thought. (On the other hand The Eternal Thread tends to reach abrupt conclusions...)

Mine's going up. It's currently at 22.46 posts/day, although thanks to TET I add another 100 or so posts to my post count. I think that's because I didn't post into the forums until 6 months ago actually...

Yeah, TET does run fast, but then again it's a chat thread and things do blow over there. It's more representative of life -- the human mind, if you will -- if you think about it that way.

Havl wrote:Hi folks. My name is Havl, and I'm an addict. I've been active on NationStates since 6 December, 2004. I've never had a CTE, and I've logged onto NS at least once a month for almost seven years.

For most of that time, I didn't do much. I posted on the Jolt forums a dozen times, maybe. And I had about 300 posts on the new NS forums, which seems like a lot but really isn't. I guess you could say that I wasn't very active. But then something happened. About two weeks ago, I started posting like crazy (OK, not as crazy as some 50+ posts a day people, but still). I've posted something like 200 posts in two weeks, which is a huge increase for me. And now NS is the first website I check everyday. I keep a browser open to NS as I check other websites. I think about NS at work while I'm away from the computer. If somebody posts a response before I leave for work, I think about my response all day. And, worst of all, I've even started to post in Forum 7.

What's wrong with me? How did I become a forum junkie? Has this ever happened to you? Will it go away, or will it only get worse? Help!

I was badly addicted to NS when I first discovered it. I still post a lot, but it has gotten easier to log off when I need to. I let my other nations die, and I no longer obsess over designing Nazi flags to see what I can get past the mods.

Here's something new: I've been spending so much time on the forums that the actual NS page for my nation looks foreign.

I actually was more attentive to answering issues when I was seriously addicted. Now that I am less obsessive about NS, I let them pile up.

I like this site a lot so far since it is a pretty fun game and the forums are nice but I am not addicted to it. I might actually leave this site when I get a job again because I would be too busy.

You won't be able to bring yourself to leave. More than 75 posts? The hook's caught on your mouth.

Havl is the kind of nation that only receives a handful of the same issues over and over again. And I've been addressing them for close to eight years. But I never ignore them, and I still get two per day.

It's interesting how they can pile up, though, especially if one spends all of his time on the forums.

Man, I remember when Big Jim and Roan announced their engagement. Good grief, that was ages ago, and if I recall right half the forum was all "OMG CONGRATS!" and the other half was "... For real?! " Geez, how long have you two been married now? It feels like it's been forever!

Another symptom of my addiction, though one that doesn't manifest itself very often anymore: back when I first became a game moderator, we did not have a good timezone spread, leaving several hours in the middle of the night relatively modless- and back in a time where porn and goatse mass-spammers were a much more common occurrence. I could not tell you how many nights I stayed up stupidly late or all-night going after one of those idiots because I was the only mod online and didn't want to let the spammer du jour clog up the place with that crap. (Oldtimers probably remember the Jackson spammer- he cost me a lot of sleep since he was in New Zealand and thus his attacks were generally late in the evening California time.) Also for awhile I was dominating the hell out of the moderator Olympics, though since I started college and such and we have a larger crew now I've slid more into the middle of the pack for the amount of work I do. :D
