Honestly, the second civil war is looking increasingly likely no matter which candidate wins a given election. The divides between the (liberal) Northeast and West Coast States, and the (conservative) inland and Deep South are simply becoming too pronounced, and worse over time.

Not really, the reason for the extreme nuttiness of the nutjob brigade in the US is more because despite longer life expectancies they are dying off quicker than they can recruit new adherents. The rhetoric seems to rise as the realisation that future ability to influence matters declines. We have probably yet to see a peak in the rhetoric but I would posit that the likelihood of an intensification of the armed struggle which has been going on the in form of right wing inspired domestic terrorism for decades is unlikely.

The extreme right keep stating "demography is destiny" and that is because they are destined for extinction or at least the extinct in the wild classification.
