Well that's only because people seem to just hate you so much. If it were not for that, I'm quite certain you'd all dawn your tallits and sing Kumbaiyah.

Why then did we face persecution and exile at the hands of so many empires?

Archeologically-historically speaking, the ancient Israelites were probably the most militaristic nation in the known world at that time.

We didn't develop military discipline to the same extent as the Persians, Greeks, Romans, or Arabs. I would even argue that the Egyptians, Hittites, Assyrians, and Babylonians all had more deeply entrenched martial traditions than we did. We fought back, and were certainly a local power, but we were not first and foremost soldiers. We only became soldiers to protect our land and our status as a nation of priests.

And out military superiority at modern times.

We're superior on a local level. Defeating the rabbles that pass for armies in the Arab world isn't really like defeating a Western military. Israel has been most successful when employing unconventional tactics together with superior technology to quickly destroy the military capacity of its enemies.

In the modern day, perhaps, out of necessity. Historically, we have not generally been soldiers. In fact, most of the European and Middle Eastern states didn't make much use of Jewish people in their armies. We served as doctors, philosophers, advisers, money lenders, and other jobs of that sort.

Kingdom of Israel, Leningrad and me are Levi'im that's pretty awesome ! Caste system? I do believe that is against one of our 613 mitzvot and that is to love the gentiles. I would never support an Israel under a caste system. As we await the Messiah and I believe we as a people who are lights upon the nations (or lagoyim) and should conduct ourselves as the people of G-d as we are. My belief is that we must push and help the gentiles towards the Messianic Era, it's our duty to show the lovingness and righteousness of G-d is it not?
