I just ate a burger with a bomb ass milkshake and I don't care.

And the laws on dairy and meat are also kind of unique if you think about it. Back at a time when families maybe had 1 to 4 cows, chances were the meat you were eating came from one of their children. Now a days, the slaughter house and dairy farm most likely aren't even in the same state.

Most of those who keep Kosher now, only do it because the Torah says so.

If you look at it, the pig wallowed in filth, the shrimp and lobsters are bottom feeders. Vultures ate the infected meat of other dead animals. These seem more like regulations on health, then favoritism.

While this is true some orthodoxy look at this as a benefit that the ancients had for serving god, like we still have to do it, but back then when they did it they were had a special side perk more than we do today.

In Orthodox (and some conservadox, traditiodox, Conservative) Judaism, you are defined ethnically as a Jew if your mother is Jewish.... meaning you're obligated to keep the 613 commandments stated in the Torah (and the oral law according to some.)

It's never been much of a problem for me..... I haven't really found wool/linen clothing.

i do know some of the orthodox around here will not wear wool/polyester blends. Which would make 2 of my suits unkosher.

Hmmm, I've never heard of such a custom, perhaps in Europe it was too hard/expensive to tell the difference in the poor towns so they just outlawed it..... and the tradition is still kept today.
