If a man takes his brother’s wife, it is impurity. He has uncovered his brother’s nakedness; they shall be childless.
Unless of course you die...... childless...... then he can take her.

I don't consider Messianic Jews to be Jews, unless of course, *sigh* their mothers were . . .
Gross. Fine.

What…?
Isaiah was clearly writing about the coming Messiah in that passage…not the entirety of the Jewish religion.
Jews alone could not bear the burden of Yahweh.

If the Jews are G-d's chosen people, why do they get treated so badly so consistently over history? From enslavement in Egypt, to the Babylonian Captivity, to the Roman destruction of the Temple, to the slaughter of Jews (alongside Muslims) in Jerusalem in 1099, to various European pogroms, to that unfortunate period in 1940s central Europe, Jews have been subject to millenia of oppression and even slaughter. What's your understanding of how this history fits into the narrative of being God's chosen people? Clearly millions of Jews reject Elie Wiesel's contention that "G-d died in Auschwitz" - what's the theological justification for doing so?
If the current territory of the State of Israel (however defined) is the Promised Land, why has G-d repeatedly allowed it to be taken away from Jews over the last 2 1/2 millennia (repeat examples from previous question)?
I hope I've phrased these questions reasonably respectfully; apologies if I haven't. I stress again that I'm not asking these questions in an attempt to challenge faith or to be rude, merely because I'm genuinely curious as to what the answer is.

A test of faith. As G-d tested Job by taking everything away from him, so to have the Jews lost everything. As G-d tested Abraham, so too have we lost sons, daughters, fathers, and mothers. We have faced despair, annihilation, and desperation, so many times in our history. Lesser people have been wiped out and cleansed. We remain. Paganism and animism have largely been destroyed, but not Judaism. We remain.
Now in this modern era, we have emerged successful and triumphant. Every single one of our enemies have faded and been destroyed. Rome is no more. Ancient Egypt is no more. The Nazis destroyed. Even the Muslims have been swept to the wayside. Revolutions and corruption have crippled there regimes. We have outlasted them all.
We are not his chosen people, we are the eternal people. The Jewish People for only being 14 million strong, are powerful. We survived his test. We have emerged from the fire and now reap the rewards of G-d.
