I'm not sure if I should post this in this thread or the Christian discussion one, but how is it religion went from focusing on this life for Jews to focusing on the next life for Christians?

Who's excited for Rosh Hashanah? I know I am!

Not looking forward to the fast on Yom Kippur, though.

I like Rosh Hashanah, But Yom Kippur isn't very fun, But for Me it's the only day I fast, so I consider it to be One day fasting and I'm done, I just eat a ton the day before, drink a ton of Water and since I have to take my medicine with A liquid, as in at least a half of a glass,it's not too bad, What's everyone's favorite Holiday Out of curiosity, Myself I like Chanukah the best.

I tend to fast more as I've gotten more religious. Tisha Ba'av has become a big one for me.

I like Purim the best. Chanukah is important for its message of keeping other religions separate from ours and not allowing others to force their views onto us, but Purim is one of those outright displays of retribution against those that would harm our people, which I agree with.

It is more of a pre jesus thing, the later prophets started talking about gods demands for mercy and kindness for his people, and even an afterlife. if you look af the dead sea scrolls, the preachings of a group called the essenes, and the preaching of jesus in the gospels, you will find some similarities.

...of course they don't. Yom Kippur is all about fasting for religion. Well, it's to repent for all they've done and stuff.

Jews do Fast for religious reasons off the top of my head I can name three:
Tish'b'av
Yom Kippur
Fast of Gedaliah\As for me I only fast on YoM Kippur.

Yeah, we get blamed for pretty much everything.

This is not the place to have this debate. Even if it were the debate effectively ended already, with proof positive that circumcision is medically beneficial and is now recommended, in favour of infant circumcision being legal and up to the parent.

Jew are alright, I suppose. They aren't annoying like evangelist Christians always trying to convert people. In fact, its quite the opposite case with Jews, isn't it? They're sort of exclusive as far as membership, or so I've heard.
